The Perfect Getaway – Chapter 7 ((Final Chapter))
Bette made her way to the beach, her heart pounding with hope and nervousness. After searching everywhere else with no luck, she said a silent prayer that Tina might be somewhere along the white sand. It had been hours since Bette had seen her wife, her heart breaking with each passing minute.
How could have she been so stupid? The moment Bette had set out in search of Tina, she silently bashed herself for letting the blonde go in the first place. Granted she was in shock but there was no excuse. They had gotten into fights before but this . . the look in Tina’s eyes was something Bette had never seen before. It was the look of a purely heartbroken woman and it made Bette sick inside.
At this rate, Bette felt Tina was capable of anything. For all she knew, the blonde was on a plane halfway back to California by now.
No, Bette inwardly thought. She had faith in their marriage and as mad as Tina was, Bette believed that her wife would let her explain. They could work this out, they needed to.
The setting sun brought about all colors in the sky and also making it somewhat harder to see but Bette was determined. Her heart continued to pound against her chest as her eyes scanned the area, every second of not spotting Tina filled her with great disappointment. Tears stung the brunette’s eyes when she caught no sight of her beautiful wife. After searching the entire resort, this was Bette’s last hope. Maybe Tina really was gone.
The beach was empty save for a few teenagers playing by the water, a couple walking along the shore and the familiar profile of a very lonely boy sitting on a rock.
Bette’s eyebrows lowered as she took in the sight, questioning her eyes for a moment before setting into motion. She carefully walked over to Brian, not wanting to frighten the young boy who seemed to be carrying the weight of the world on his tiny shoulders.
She wasn’t sure exactly on how to approach the situation but Bette had to try anyway, opting to tease the boy and hoping to get a smile out of him at the very least.
