    The Real Deal Ch 13

“Oh… the mother. Oh.. oh.. you know, we are good here. Did you hear me?  We are good. He is going to school and he has friends.”

    “I am his father.”

    “You abandoned him.”

    “I am his father.”

“That doesn’t mean shit to me.  Where have you been when he broke his arm, when he had nightmares, or when he needed you?” I question him, raising my voice.

“Well, after I left your wedding, we went to Vegas.  I was lucky and won half a million.  I have to live a little, you know how it is.”

    That’s his bullshit excuse?

“No, don’t give me that McCutheon bullshit.  I was stupid enough to believe you last time and it cost me Carmen.”  It hurts again when I mention her name.

“You did the right thing, you spared her from our crap.  Even good old Carla finally cracked.”  He chuckles.  He is talking like this is not his life!

“Aren’t you even remotely upset about leaving her?”  I ask.

“She knew all along who I am, she should have known better.  I married her because she loves me and she was pregnant.  I didn’t plan all this.”  That’s his defense? Lame.

“Do you love her?” I don’t really want to know the answer.

“Maybe I did once upon a time.  Love is overrated.”  He chuckles.

His selfishness never fails to amaze me, one layer after another.  I cannot believe that he is my father, a 100% bastard, scumbag, lowest of all.

“So what are you gonna to do? Take me to court?”  He challenges me.

“Yeah, yeah, I could." I never thought about that but why not?

"Oh sweetie, look, I’m his father, any court will look favorably on that, they’ll also find that I looked high and low for my son and for his mother, that homeless junkie livin’ off the grid, and in the end, if they decide I’m not fit, what do you think it’s gonna happen to Shay? They might give him to you, but I doubt it. And if I’m not mistaken, you have a record."  His emphasis on the ‘record’.  I fucking hate him!

“I was a kid, that was a long time ago!”  I retort.

    1. Thanks for posting ^^ The scene where Carmen sings was…weird…I have to admit that I laughed when I imagined that, but it was nice to see Carmen supporting Shane. I hope we don’t have to wait too long for your next chapter.

    2. Wow, the Shane/Paige/Gabe scene had my eyes popping out of their sockets ! Poor Paige. She’s been played in the nastiest of ways :( That man is an ass.

    3. Of course Carmen can sing!!!! She’s not just a pretty face. It was a nice post, i really enjoyed the two songs and the way everything is moving. It’s nice to see how they get closer and closer. PPS Loving every single word of it.

    4. I love that Carmen and Shane are so connected and in tune with each other emotionally that Carmen knows where to find Shane when she’s troubled and she also knows how to cheer her up… with love and sweet songs. Keep on writing. I think this is the real deal. PPS

    5. Ugh. I hate that Shane lost Shay. I like the way you had Carmen cheer her up though. Wow..Shane’s mom looking for her. That will be interesting. It was also an interesting development with Carmen’s step dad being abusive. Adds more to her character development. I like it.

    6. There’s so much going on it’s great!! I really hate Gabe, he is such a horible person. I love how Carmen and Shane can just be there for each other despite the fact that their relationship is really up in the air. It shows that no matter what the current circumstances are they truly care for each other…and that’s something to build a relationship on. I really hope that Shane’s mom coming into the picture is a good thing…I don’t think I could handle anymore heartbreak for Shane. Awesome job!!!
