    The Reluctant (chapter 7)

    Chapter 7

Well, here we go. Day’s four and five. The funniest days of my life. Ha, yeah right. This one’s still got some of the romance, but trust me, it’s not going to last for very long.

                                                                               ***

“Hey, Dane.” I said as she opened the door to my apartment.

“Yo.” She grabbed a hat hanging on the doorknob and pulled it on sideways, making a peace sign with her other hand. I blinked.

“Okay, I officially don’t know you.” She pouted, taking off the hat and yanking it over my eyes. I pulled it off and flung it at her, sticking my tongue out. It missed her narrowly and she grinned.

“Missed me, missed me, now…do I even have to finish that rhyme?” I laughed and grabbed the belt loops on her jeans, pulling her towards me, and placed a soft, lingering kiss on her lips. Just then, the alarm on my radio went off, spouting ‘Little Triggers,” making us both jump. Needless to say we were both a little paranoid that someone would see us, which is why we were spending most of our time in my apartment. Well, it’s not like I don’t like being alone with Dana, but it’d be nice to actually be able to kiss her in public, or even just around our friends.

Dana eyed the radio, then swiveled her head back towards me with a skeptical look.

“Alice, what is this? It sounds like something straight out of a sock hop.” I gaped at her.

“Are you kidding me? This is my favorite song! It’s Elvis. It’s the classics!” She raised an eyebrow at me, smothering a grin.

                “You listen to Elvis?”

“Well, not Presley. Elvis Costello. All of Presley’s big hits were written by his guitar player. All the songs Elvis actually wrote were crap. Presley was a moron. But Elvis Costello is a genius.” She just stared at me blankly. “What?”

“I just didn’t figure you for a big music buff, that’s all.” A small smirk played at the corner of her mouth.

“Shut up.” I whined, and we both burst out laughing.

“Oh! Guess what?” She asked, suddenly excited.

“Mmm…You’re finally going to run away with me to Vegas?” I joked.

    1. Ha, fuckin loved the beginning with Dana and the hat bit! You’re awsomely descriptive, and I could picture everything that was happening perfectly. Once again, loved the update and I can’t wait for more! Please post soon:)

    2. Really glad you broke through your writer’s block. Expository chapters are always a bitch. On the other hand, EC is the bomb and I agree that Alice would be a HUGE fan…now I’m thinking I should work in another EC classic into the fic I’m working on now. I already did Shabby Doll…you just did Little Triggers, so I’m taking suggestions, just to see if I can make it work. Good job…looking forward to the next chapter.

    3. Definitely loved it Dork! I can totally see Dana being all standoffish, and Alice totally ignoring it and draping herself all over Dana. Damn that Tonya. I hate her! I hate her I hate her I hate her!! (But I love you!!)

    4. Still frustrated by Dana. ;) Dana doesn’t know what she is missing (as I quote Alice). ;) Shane doesn’t know what’s going on between these two..or does she? Well, first we need to get rid of Tonya (let Alice throw her overboard or something :)).

    5. Another great chapter, i loved the dana hat bit and th ” “I just can’t quit you!” I sobbed dramatically, mocking the newest gay cowboy movie that had come out.” i totally just watched that movie at the weekend! Keep up the great writing!

    6. ahhhh hey dork!, i loved this chapter. Not depressing yet, lol. You have such a good talent for imagery dork. i can picture everything you say perfectly. And i have to say that the “gay cowboy” movie appearence was cute. Lol, you do write alice and dana very well. And this story is funny at times, whether you mean it too or not. But i’m always loving it, and always reading…post soon!
