    Bette and Tina Go Take a Break from the Drama.

     

    Well, its all true. Every word., said Bette.

     

    They stared at each other for a moment, the softness in her lovers gaze easing the pain Bette had felt earlier in the day.

     

    Tina smiled gently and glanced down at their nearly empty plates. You ready to go?, she asked.

     

    Bette responded in the affirmative and moments later, the two walked along the plaza, holding hands as they absently strolled by the shops. They were quiet as they walked, taking in the vibrant energy of the area, happy to be in each others company. When theyd exhausted their interest, the lovers walked to Janices rented Jeep Cherokee and climbed inside.

     

    So, whats next on the list?, asked Tina.

     

    I want to take you out to La Jolla Cove. Ill stop somewhere so we can pick up a cheap blanket or something and sit out on the beach. Its breath-taking, T.

     

    Tina smiled before leaning in and quickly kissing her girlfriends lips. Sounds great. Lets go, babe.

     

    Bette exhaled deeply, smiling into soft amber orbs. The feeling of contentment that surged through her brought tears to her dark brown eyes. She was so at ease with Tina, so comfortable and relaxed.

     

    Im home, T., she whispered.

     

    Tina cupped her girlfriends cheek and said, I know. The San Diego Heartbreaker has returned to the scene of the crime.

     

    Bette looked down and said, No, T.

     

    The sun-kissed blondes brow furrowed in confusion and she waited for her girlfriend to fill in the blanks.

     

    Dark-brown pools looked up to meet Tinas loving gaze and Bette replied, Thats not what I meant. TinaIm at home with you. Wherever you are, Im home.

     

    Tina smiled brightly and her eyes were shining with unshed tears. Come here., she whispered.

     

    Their lips met again, only this time the kiss they shared was more passionate than the last. Bette teased her lovers lips until she gained entry across the soft, pink border and their tongues danced a well-practiced tango. Tinas right hand found itself resting on the back of Bettes head, pulling the dark-haired beauty even closer to her.

     

    As their kiss intensified, a caramel colored hand slid down and cupped Tinas soft breast; the thumb lightly circling the hardening nipple through layers of satin and poly-cotton blends. Their hearts were beating rapidly in unison and the dull ache had begun to build deep within both women. They slowly separated and Bette rested her head on Tinas shoulder.

     

    You reallytakemy breathaway., she panted.

     

    Tinas eyes were tightly closed as she struggled against the arousal she now felt. Mmmm. We really need some privacy, babe.

     

    Bette nodded. I know. This was supposed to be our week, T., she murmured into Tinas neck.

     

    Tina took a few deep breaths. Well have other weeks, Bette.

     

    Bette pulled back and looked into her girlfriends eyes. Yeah, youre right. We will, T. You ready to see the beach?, she asked.

     

    I sure am, said Tina, as she smiled and wiped away the tears that had slipped from her eyes.

     

    Great. Lets go., said Bette.

     

    She started the SUV and they headed out of the labyrinthine parking lot. While she drove, Bette placed her hand on Tinas thigh; a gesture that was slowly becoming a force of habit. When she felt her lovers hand, Tina slightly jerked and chuckled.

     

    Bette felt this motion and looked over towards her girlfriend, grinning from ear to ear.

     

    Tina cleared her throat. How about I just hold your hand?, she said, taking Bettes hand and holding it her own.

     

    Sure thing, T. Im sorry, baby. Didnt mean start anything., said Bette, kissing the back of her lovers hand.

     

    You know Im easily excitable, babe.

     

    Bette chuckled. I see that. Ill be more careful.

     

    Thank you. Much appreciated., said Tina.

     

    She sat back in her seat and watched the sights of the city pass by, smiling to herself and sighing contentedly with the pride of San Diego at her side.

    7. MTS, it’s official!! I am obsessed with this story. I typically print this story out and read it at work (damn internet security at work will not let me access this site). So this morning, I was all excited to see another post from you. I printed out the story, got distracted, and forgot it!!! Ugggghhhhh!!! I was cussing myself all day, and couldn’t wait to get home and read this chapter. As always, it was well worth the wait and anticipation. You are amazing!!

      Bette sounded like a loser in high school, hehehe but i can understand her, i went through the same thing in mid school..

    20. I hope Grandma, Aunty, or dad didn’t happen to see the little lover’s kiss. Just went to my first Pride this past Saturday. We had a festival after and the feeling of freedom permeated the day. Couples holding hands, dancing, and kissing marked the wonderful event. Thanks for your story MTS!!!

      I just speak from the heart. Your story is just magnificent. I marvel at this masterpiece every time you add a chapter. The characters live and breathe in this realistic and believable universe you have created. The feeling and emotions are tangible as every twist and turn pulls Bette and Tina apart before tenderly re-uniting them. New characters have joined as if they have always been integral to the saga and provided much pleasure, excitement and distress. In a lesser writer’s hands, this could have been ham-fisted however in your capable and talented hands in has been seamless.
      I adore this break away from the despair and drama of Bette’s family and her anguished relationship with her mother. Tina is there; a constant force to care, share and protect her lover.
      Can’t wait for your next installment as will spent the rest of the day with a big grin and a happy song in my head.
