Bette swallowed thickly over the lump in her throat and pulled a few curls behind her ear as she tip-toed toward the stairs and saw a heap of femininity crumpled at the bottom of the steps, rubbing her right ankle. A set of dark-brown eyes gazed into a pair of chocolate pools that resembled her own as recognition set in and a Bette breathlessly exhaled her older sister’s name.
“Kit?”
Kit winced and gave a small, pained smile as she looked up 23 stairs toward her younger sister. “Bette. Hi.”
Bette rushed down the stairs, holding her tightly tied robe close to her body. She eyed the suitcases and bags she and Tina had left down by the front door in their hurry to love each other and felt a wave of guilt descend down on her spirit.
“Kit, I’m so sorry”, she said, moving to help her sister stand.
“It’s okay.”, said Kit.
She tried to stand on her right ankle and found it a little too tender. “Ahh.”
Bette was becoming frantic and the worry was apparent in her face. Had Kit seen her making love to Tina? How was she going to explain this?
“Come sit down for a minute. Let me umlet me get an ice pack for your ankle.”
“I’ll be okay. I just need to walk.”, said Kit. She tried to walk again and winced at the pain.
Bette shook her head and said, “No, you’re not okay. Let me help you.”
Kit gave in and the sisters battled their own uncomfortableness as Bette helped her into the kitchen. She placed Kit’s leg in a chair and walked over the freezer.
Staring into the freezer past ice cream and frozen meats, Bette chewed nervously at her lip and searched in vain to find an ice pack.
“No ice packs, Kit. Will this broccoli do okay?”, she asked, holding up a bag of spears.
Kit nodded. “Yeah, that’s fine.”
As she arranged the frozen vegetables around her sister’s ankle, Bette asked “What are you doing here, Kit?”
Kit was suddenly shy, she didn’t want to make eye contact with the young woman who’d grown up literally before her eyes just moments ago. There were worry lines in her cinnamon colored forehead and she stared down her jean-clad leg to her ankle.

MTS, Obviously you have had that awesome experience of mutual bonding, as have I. It happened with my first love (she has since died) and has never happened since. A truly mind blowing experience and you captured it so well. Thank you for bringing back those long forgotten, beautiful memories.

*Lets out the biggest sigh of relief ever* I’m soooo happy you introduced us to Kit and that it was she that saw them!! I totally wasn’t expecting that. Awesome chapter, MTS. I feel kinda bad for Tina though, she must still be scared to death! Hehe
It’s great that Kit is still the Kit we love and adore. Great that the sisters are bonding, how could they not, after their shared experience. That was great.

You have raised the bar so high that most other authors can’t even see it and yet you always manage to raise a little bit higher each time. I am so thrilled at seeing another fine post from you.
Brilliant twist by introducing Kit at this point. At least Bette has another supporter in her family abet one which is a bit of a black sheep. Just like Aunt Karen. Acorns don’t fall far from the Oak, I guess.
This is the simplest of scenes as Bette and Kit talk but given your talent and skill it has become a living a breathing entity full of promise, emotion and much satisfaction for the readers.

You know, I don’t know how to tell you this and hope you don’t call me a liar. Ok when I read your last chapter and about who’s at the door that accidentally saw Bette and Tina make love and I don’t even thinking that is Kit and this morning when I wake up I suddenly know who’s at the door and is Kit and I think that it’s the one who’s we not thinking about lately, and I’m glad you post this chapter and I know who is now and good way to introduce Kit to us, love it. Bette and Kit is a little bit shy and they have a good coversation and damn what a surprise Kit’s pregnant and let see what’s next. Post soon please, thanks! Good chapter!
