    The Roommates – 2nd Dimension: Chapter 65

“I know, T. I’m going to miss you so much. I don’t know how I’m going to handle being away from you. I love you so much,” said Bette, her eyes heavy with emotion.

Tina held on tighter. “I’m going to miss you, too.”

“I’m nervous about living with my Mom. I haven’t lived with her in over 3 years. I just hope it works out okay.”

“It will. She’s trying so hard, Babe. Just give her a chance. And if you need me, I’m only a phone call away.”

A tear slipped from Bette’s left eye and she whispered, “That’s still too far apart.”

Tina sighed. “It’s only 3 months, Bette. We can do 3 months.”

“I really hope so. I need you, Tina. I always need you. I always will. Please don’t forget that, okay?”

“I won’t. Me and you, right?”

Bette nodded. “Me and you against the world.”

They held each other and spoke soft and tender words until the duty of packing finally pulled them away from each other. The lovers moved quickly, filing away their freshman year into brown boxes and suitcases. It was Thursday evening. By Saturday morning, they would be two different people in two different worlds. Time was against them.

There was a soft knock at the door and both young women looked up from their tasks. They exchanged a look before Betted headed over to the door and opened it. Her dark eyes landed on Alice’s small frame.

    “Hey Al,” she said.

Alice shifted nervously. “Hey, mind if I come in?”

“Please do,” said Bette. She extended her arm and Alice walked into the room.

“How did you get in the building?” asked Tina.

Alice smiled softly. “You know I have my connections.”

“Ahh, should have known.” Tina replied.

“What brings you to our neck of the woods?” asked Bette.

Alice sighed, her smile fading away. “I uh…….I miss you guys.”

Bette smiled warmly. “You do? You miss us?”

“I do. I miss hanging out with you guys. And tomorrow’s like our last day together. I just wanted to drop by and say hello.”

“I’ve missed hanging out with you too, Alice,” Bette replied.

    1. I would love to know the answers to those questions myself. It would be nice if the girls could go to New York or Bette come and visit the girls for a couple of weeks or so.

    2. I think Tina needs to see what Eric wants and tell him there is no way they will ever be together again and that she has found someone else if that is what he wants. I think they will get through the summer just fine as long as they talk often and maybe visit a couple of times.

    3. Hey what a pleasant surprise this morning. Great chapter it feels like we’re launching off the dock and the boat is just pushing off with no return in sight. Things will be different but the questions is will the differences be for the good or bad. Thanks MTS you weave a great story.

    4. Excellent chapter. Bette needs this time to bond with her mom, while missing her from her life for so long. Tina will have the support of Dana & Alice to go through the Summer and hope Eric stops intruding in T’s life. PPS Lucero & Marsha

    5. Yeah, why is Eric calling? I’m stumped??? So 3 months can be a long time, especially when Bette is hanging w/ the art crowd in NY. So are we going to speed through those 3 months or see it all play out? I’m intrigued; PPS!
