    Bette & Tina…Tears at LAX
    (A B&T Beginning Set on a College Campus)

    Tina lifted Bettes chin and looked into her dark brown eyes. Bette, I dont know whats going on with you, but you know Im here for you. You know I love you., she said.

    Bette nodded in response.

    Tina knew what she meant by those words, but she didnt think Bette fully understood the passion behind her last sentence. However, she knew this wasnt the place. She and Bette had many things to discuss and the baggage claim at LAX was not the place to have their much needed heart-to-heart. With this thought in her mind, Tinas new motive was to get home as quickly as possible so that she could share her news and uncover the impetus behind Bettes pain.

    Well, lets get out of here. Lets go home. We can order in a pizza and sit down and really talk and Ill baby you tonight. I know you love to be babied., she said.

    Bette gave a small smile, but inwardly she winced at the word baby. In addition to feeling humiliated, exposed, embarrassed, betrayed, and alone, she now felt as if she were too needy. Tina was the one for whom the word baby should be upsetting.

    Oh my God. She had to sit through that doctors appointment and who knows what other kinds of ***** and here I am, sucking up the remaining strength she has left. I cant seem to do anything right these days. She needs me and Im a ***** nervous wreck. Just relax Bette. Get yourself together!, she told herself.

    Bette cleared her throat. Im sorry, T. I didnt mean to fall apart like this. IIm just so happy to see you. Im so glad youre home.

    Tina knew there was more and she was determined to find out the rest. The sooner she got home, the sooner she could uncover the truth. Im glad to be home. Tina grabbed her bag and reached for Bettes hand.

    Bette smiled at her. You want to hold my hand on the way to the car?

    Tina had instinctively known that Bette needed to feel her touch. It didnt matter how small or how long the touch lasted, but she had known that Bette needed to feel her. Tina didnt really understand this, but her body did. She didnt really know how to respond to Bette. Her actions just felt natural. Yes. I want to hold your hand. Maybe youll calm down when you realize Im not going anywhere., she said with a shrug.
