The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 26

Bette tossed her best friend an incredulous grin. “Come on Al. What do you think, I’m having visions now? That’s silly. Who knows who I saw or what I said? I was completely out of it.”

    “Bette, I’m not an idiot.”

    Bette’s smile fell. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to imply – – -,” she began.

Alice was angry now. “I know what I saw and what I heard. Are you sure you can trust this woman? I mean you did just meet her. You don’t know where she lives. You don’t know much about her. How do we know she wasn’t targeting you or something? Don’t you think it’s weird that you were in a state of shock, yelling her name? And then she just randomly runs into you on the street?”

Alice watched a range of emotions play out in her best friend’s dark brown eyes. The look began with a patronizing gaze but quickly changed into wonder and curiosity, followed by confusion and then contemplation.

“What are you thinking, Alice?” asked Bette.

“I’m thinking that until we know a little more about her, that you guard your heart just a little more. Okay? I’m sure I’m just making a big deal out of nothing. But I worry about you. And we all have to trust our instincts. Something about her has been bothering me. I can’t really explain it. But the fact that you were yelling for her before you even met her, it’s been on my mind for the past few days. And what are the odds that she would just randomly appear out of the blue? I mean, where did she grow up? What’s the story with her ex? Where does she work? Have you met anyone in her life?”

Bette wrung her hands. She had only part of the information to explain Tina’s behavior. She was really from an alternate dimension in space and time. And so yes, she had been yelling for Tina as she left LAX. But Alice was right in that there was much about 2019 Tina that Bette didn’t know. What Bette didn’t even understand was that her limited life experience from her 19-year-old mindset had left her blind to things that may have been obvious to other 34-year-olds. She had never pushed Tina for too many details. Her mental age and 2005 year knowledge of Tina’s background had been enough to convince her that she really knew the new blonde in her life.

    1. Thank you for chapter!

Alice tell Bette a few right thing about Tina, but i wish that she put her energy on her relationship and let Bette be mature person.
Bette realy needs to grow up and start thinking her own head and not always listen Alice.
Shane drugdealer – i like this twist. But Tina attended hairdressing salon too – she also addict? No it coldn’t be, right?

    2. As much as Alice is right about Bette not knowing enough about Tina, I still hope that Bette will follow her heart and instincts and keep her trust in Tina. Don’t let Alice put doubts in her mind, don’t let Bette end it with Tina. She should remember that in her former life (like the sound of that ;-)) she and Tina were always at their best when they were near each other and talked about their fears and problems. Together they would find a way to handle every obstacle.

Tina is not malicious but insecure. It will be hard for Bette to learn that T is married. But she should give Tina the chance to open up, to talk about her life, about her manipulative and narrow-minded family and about her deep feelings for Bette. It’s all new for Tina but hopefully she’ll take a first step and divorces Henry before Bette even learns about the marriage. She should do it for herself, she deserves to live her life how she wants to not how others expect her to.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more.
