The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 31

“Tina, I’m 100% sure. I will not change my mind. Sidney isn’t the woman I want. You are. I only want you.”

Tina whispered, “How can you be so sure?”

“Have you ever felt that something was just….like it was meant to be?” asked Bette.

“Is that how you feel about us?”

Bette nodded. “I do. I do completely. That’s why being in the right headspace with you is so important. If I were to fuck up my relationship with you, I don’t think I’d ever recover. I need us to be on solid ground. You are who I’m meant to be with. I just know it.”

Tina sighed. “This is killing me. I’ve never felt like this about anyone else in my life. Thoughts of you consume me.”

“I feel the same. I’m constantly battling right now, T. I hate how I feel lately. I’m not happy that I’m still learning how to cope without getting drunk or high. I need to be able to stand on my own, before you and I get more serious. But trust me, this has nothing to do with how I feel about you. I meant what I said, I want to spend forever with you.”

Tina was quiet, doubt still creeping into her thoughts. “How is Sidney?”

“I don’t want to talk about her. Not with you lying here in my arms.”

“Bette, we need to talk about her. I need to know what you’re thinking. What you’re feeling. Where you’re at with her and everything else.”

The brunette closed her eyes, trying to stop the anxiety she could feel brewing in the pit of her belly. Her heart rate began to speed up. Thinking about Sidney and the state of affairs between them was a trigger. Though she could see the path forward, she knew the path was littered with barriers that would make it difficult.

Would Sidney really just sign the papers? Could they dissolve their business relationship? And would Sidney actually change her name?

Bette wanted to marry Tina someday. After all, that had been the plan in her original reality. She didn’t want two Mss. Porters running around. There should be only one. That one was Tina.

    1. Poor Bette….Tina needs to make sure that Bette gets to therapy and encourage her to disclose all to the therapist. Its going to be a hard road to follow.

Tina – with a father and husband who are in a large law firm, you need to be cautious about private investigators which can trail you or locate you via cell phones. With so much money at stake with the upcoming divorce, look for dirty tricks from dear ole Dad and Henry. See a lawyer ASAP and start to formulate a plan. Sue for divorce, stay away from Bette in your vehicle and use a throwaway phone to contact her. If you must see her, use a cab from various locations. Home to a mall, the mall to Bette’s. etc. Or rent a car and put yours in the shop for a few days. Have the company send you on some out of town trips and keep the rental car for a few extra days in a parking garage. And figure out a way to hide your assets. A good lawyer can help. Put all plans in place before you file. Make things look happy and normal for dear sweet Henry. This may take some time, but it looks like its going to take some time before Bette is ready for a relationship – many months not weeks.

Great story…..and the mess keeps getting bigger….

    2. My heart is aching for Bette and for Tina. This is a very tough journey for them.
But hopefully moments like this will strengthen their love.

I have another idea for Tina. First: brilliant attorney to handle the prenup and her financial situation. Second: Henry has a deadly accident while away on business for Daddy I-threaten-my-daughter Kennard. Third: a big investor in Kennard’s firm withdraws big money because of the homophobic attitude of the owner.

I know, it’s not that simple but it sounds nice ;-)

Love how you put me on an emotional rollercoaster with nearly every chapter.

      More please.

    3. Hmm, i really don’t see any progress in Bette’s condition. If she gone for help in first and not just lying in bed and drinking, thing would be better for her. And if she wouldn’t tell her therapist about what happen – thing are never would the same, she’ll always have mental problems
