The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 33

She followed him into his home office and they sat down together at a small table he used to store his knickknacks.

Tina sipped her scotch, enjoying the smokiness of the rich liquor. It warmed her from the inside and she felt herself relax.

“You didn’t really want to know about home prices, did you?” he asked.

Tina eyed her father. “No, Dad. You know me better than that.”

    “What’s on your mind?”

She took another sip, letting the liquid roll around on her tongue. “I’ve been thinking about our conversation.”

He squinted at her, she most definitely had his attention. “And what have you been thinking?”

    “I went to my attorney.”

Steven smiled. “I know you did.”

She nodded. “Of course you do.”

“And what did you find out?” he asked.

    “That the pre-nup is airtight.”

Her father studied her, waiting for her to continue.

“The woman I was seeing, she wasn’t truthful with me, Dad.”

    “How so?”

Tina sighed, letting her eyes fill with tears. “She’s not ready for me. She’s going through some things. Some hard things. I don’t know if she’ll ever be ready for me. I can’t put everything at risk for her.”

Steven looked pained. “It’s not that I ever wanted you to suffer, Christina.”

Tears slipped from her eyes and Tina wiped them away. “I’m fine. I just hate that you were right.”

    “I’m right?”

“She wasn’t worth it, Dad. I can’t lose everything for someone who doesn’t really want to be with me.”

Steven sipped his scotch. “Bette Porter is a formidable woman.”

Tina felt a chill down her back. He knew Bette. “You know her?”

    “I know things and – – -,” he began.

“And you don’t know things. I remember.”

“I know she’s married. Did she tell you that?”

Tina sighed. “She did. I didn’t know she was emotionally unstable though. She told me she was divorcing.”

He shrugged. “She is. Her wife is in a substance abuse rehab facility right now.”

“I know. She told me she was divorcing her because of it. Because of her wife’s problems.”

    1. Whoa!!! This is a nice act for Tina….What the hell is she planning. Moving to New York with Henry???? Does a change in state change the prenuptial agreement? Perhaps a new one can be drafted and replace the old one with the proper signatures. They can do that with wills, why not pre-nupts? That might work nicely and it could work within a short period of time…..Yes make Henry comfortable and away from Mom and Dad….

Cannot wait for the next one!!!

    2. Wow. I hope that this will get Daddy K off Bette’s back. It’s kind of eery what he knows, can Tina slip off the radar of his surveillance? I guess if Bette knew about it right now she would probably end it with Tina. I doubt she would be strong enough to go through with Tina’s plan.
At least I strongly hope that T has a plan to protect not only herself but Bette but doesn’t really intend to end it with B.
I trust you to take good care of our girls and still plan to give them happiness…. together.

      Emotional rollercoaster again. :-)

    3. Lol.. I feel a loop hole working it’s way in… Tina deserve an Oscar for he performance tears and all but I’m sure they were real for having to go through all this in the first place. Either way Dad fell for it. Great job, thank you for keeping us on our toes..
