Angelica: Auntie Kit!

It was the first time she had seen Kit. When Angie were inside the room, the glass was a one-way mirror glass, meaning Kit could see Angie but Angie couldn’t see her back but now they were only inches apart. Kit swooped Angie up in her arms, kissing her all over while squeezing her tightly. Angelica broke the hug to look at her auntie in the eyes.

Angelica: Why are you crying auntie Kit?

Kit: I’m just so happy to see you baby girl.

Kit kissed Angelica cheeks once again. Angelica looked at all of the adults standing around her and noticed that someone was missing.

Angelica: Where is Tina? She’s my friend.

Kit froze. She didn’t know what to say or how to explain what was going on to Angelica, she wasn’t trained for this, to be a parent but she had to try.

Kit: Um sweetheart, Ms. Tina and Ms. Bette, they had to go home.

Angelica: Oh.

Angelica looked sad. Everyone watched on, the deputy, the agent and Kit, their hearts broke for this little girl.

Kit: Hey don’t you worry, I’m sure you will see them again very soon okay.

Angelica: Ok.

Angelica fidget with her doll.

Kit: Look Angie, this is Ms. Beals, you’re going to go with her for a few days alright sweetie, then I will be there to pick you up and take you home.

Angelica: I want to go with you auntie Kit.

Kit: You can’t tonight baby, but I promise you I will be there as soon as I can to come get you.

Angelica: I want my mommy and daddy.

Angelica big hazel eyes filled with tears.

Ms. Beals: Don’t worry Angelica, you gonna have so much fun. There’s a lot of toys where you are going and I hear they are pretty cool. A lot of kids to play with, doesn’t that sound like fun?

The woman tried to make Angelica feel comfortable but it didn’t work. Angelica started to whimper softly, all she wanted was to be around someone she was familiar with, to go home and play with her own toys, to be with her mommy and daddy, but that wasn’t going to happen. And although she is too young to understand right now, she will soon find out that, that would never happen again. Her mommy and daddy was gone. Her life is about to change and there is no going back.
