The Triangle of Love – Chapter 16

    Alice: We’re good.

    Aidan: That’s it?

Alice: Yeah. We’re taking things slow but I love her.

Aidan smiled at Alice. He had thought about Lara’s plan all night and as much as he wanted to go through with it, he was beginning to think it wasn’t worth it. The bartender was Aidan’s friend, and Lara had paid him to spike Alice’s drinks she had on the night of the crash. Once Alice had left the bar, Aidan made sure he was always in front of her car as she drove. The bartender and Lara were cousins, but the bartender, also known as Josh, wasn’t interested in any other part. In his eyes, he’d played his part.

    Aidan: You do?

Alice: Yeah I mean, it’s not great how we realised it, and I do feel sorry for Lara.

Aidan was shocked to hear Alice mention Lara. But he quickly realised they hadn’t talked about Lara, so as far as Alice knew, Aidan didn’t have a clue who she was talking about. He decided he needed to keep his cover for now, at least until he decided what he wanted to do.

    Aidan: Lara?

Alice: Yeah, she’s Danas ex. She was Dana’s first girlfriend and the only woman Dana has ever slept with.

    Aidan: What happened between them?

Alice: Dana realised she wasn’t in love with her. Dana isn’t experienced, so she confused her feelings. She decided it would be best if they broke up, before it got too serious but Lara didn’t take it too well.

    Aidan: Why?

Alice: She slapped Dana. She hit her pretty hard. I saw the whole thing.

After hearing this, he realised he didn’t want to go through with the plan. It seemed the break up was just a misunderstanding on Lara’s part, as if she didn’t understand the reason Dana broke up with her. He needed to tell Alice. He needed to warn her she was in danger.

Aidan: Look, Alice, there’s something I need to tell you.

    Alice: What is it?

Alice began to sit up, obviously becoming uncomfortable. Aidan helped her sit up a little as Alice groaned in pain. Once she was sitting pretty much upright, Aidan began his confession.

Aidan: Alice, I don’t know how to tell you this.
