The Triangle of Love – Chapter 22 (Part 1)

    Dana: Yeah, maybe you’re right.

Carmen: Hey, did you ever hear back from the police?

Dana: Come to think of it, no we didn’t. I wonder if they even found her body.

Carmen: Maybe you should call them and see if you can find anything out.

Shane: Yeah, or go there. They might not be able to tell you anything over the phone.

Dana: I guess I could do that. Alice and I will go in later today.

Shane: Alright guys. Anyway, Carmen and I are going to get going.

Dana: Okay, thanks for coming guys.

Shane and Carmen said goodbye to Dana before popping their heads in the bedroom to say bye to Alice. They left Danas house and Dana made her way into the bedroom to talk to Alice. She really didn’t want to worry Alice any more, but being honest had worked for them up until now, so she should be honest with her about this. She sat on the bed and looked over at the computer screen.

    Dana: What you doing?

Alice: Starting a story for work.

Dana: Alice, can I talk to you about something?

Alice saved her work and shut the computer down, placing it on the side of the bedside table. She looked over at Dana, with worry in her eyes.

Alice: What is it Dane, did I do something wrong?

Dana: No, not at all. It’s just, what if… that what happened earlier, what if it’s to do with Lara?

    Alice: Lara? She’s dead?

Dana: Yeah, so Aidan said. Did the police ever find her body?

    Alice: They never said…

Dana: Carmen and Shane said we should go down there and find out.

Alice: I don’t know, Dane. What if we are in danger?

Dana: I don’t think they’ll tell us over the phone, unless we ask them to come here.

Alice: It’s worth a try; I’d like to know if they found her.

Dana picked up the phone and called the police station, but unfortunately, they had to go there. Dana agreed on a time and put the phone down.

Dana: We have to be there in an hour, they can’t come here.

Alice: We’ll just have to be careful.

They went to the police station and found out that they hadn’t found Lara’s body, but had arrested Aidan, who was seemingly expecting their arrival. They found out that Aidan told them where the body was, but when they searched the area, they couldn’t find any sign of Lara’s body, or any belongings. As they couldn’t find the body, they let Aidan go, but made sure he was under surveillance, just in case. When they arrived at home, they locked the doors and closed the curtains. They were terrified. What if what Aidan had said was a lie, and if Lara wasn’t dead, whose blood was Aidan wearing? They called their friends and asked if they would come over. They all agreed and arrived around 15 minutes later. Once they were all there, Alice and Dana explained what the police had said, and they were all shocked. They decided to make it a family day, and ordered some food, and played a couple of board games, each resulting in Alice complaining about losing. Once they had finished their food and games, they all said they were staying the night, no exceptions, apart from Jenny, who came up with some stupid excuse about having to empty the pool in her garden. Dana set up the spare bedroom for Bette and Tina, as Shane, Carmen, Helena and Kit had said they would sleep in the living room. Shane was sharing the couch with Carmen, while Helena and Kit were occupying the two chairs at either side. It was early, but they were all fairly tired anyway.

Alice and Dana were lying in bed, Danas arms wrapped protectively around Alice’s small frame. Alice was facing away from Dana, but she knew she was crying. Dana turned Alice over so she was facing her, and wiped away Alice’s tears with her thumb.

    Dana: What’s wrong, baby?

Alice: I love you so much, Dane.

Dana: I know, baby. I love you too, but why are you crying?

Alice: Because, if it wasn’t for Aidan, I might not even be here with you right now. He saved me, Dane, and if he’s lying about killing Lara, maybe he’s not done with us.

Dana had been having the same thoughts Alice was having now, but she wanted to be strong for her girlfriend, but right now, seeing Alice so upset, vulnerable and scared, she couldn’t stop the tears from falling from her own eyes. She pulled Alice even closer to her and vowed to never let her go. What Alice was saying was true, in reality, Aidan had saved her. She hated the thought of Aidan or Lara being near them. Right now, all Dana wanted to hear was: ‘We found the body, and we can confirm the victim is Lara Perkins.’ She hated that she was thinking about it, but it was true. Alice’s tears slowly subsided and she began to fall asleep, wrapped up comfortably in Dana’s arms. Dana looked down at Alice and kissed her softly on the lips. She felt Alice respond slightly, half asleep, half awake. Alice opened her eyes and looked into Danas, before reaching up and kissing her back, on the lips, just as Dana had done to her.

Dana: I love you so much, Al. I’m never going to leave you.

Alice: I love you too, Dane. Get some rest.

They both fell asleep, hoping to sleep through the night with no disturbances.
