He sighs and grabs the bartenders attention

“Can I get a whisky on the rocks and make it a double please”

Bette turns and glares at him and he shrugs “What?…You just went against everything we had discussed regarding this role and to possibly opening up a can of worms again…I need this drink” Luke explains

“Fine” she mutters “But she may not even sign on..Especially if she knows I did” she stops lowering her head to rest in her hands “Which I’m sure she knows by now”

After a brief moment she feels a hand on her shoulder

“Listen…You fucked up….”

Bette brings her head up from her hands and shoots a glare at Luke “Thank you for that…Captain Obvious”

He pats her shoulder “I wasn’t finished” he says sighing “You fucked up….But you have grown since then…She will see that…This may be a chance to amend things”

She shakes her head “I hurt her so badly Luke…I was so selfish back then…Only thinking about myself…Only focused on my career…I didn’t care that I was hurting her…I just tossed her aside when I got what I wanted  but then I realized later I just let go of the best thing that ever happened to me…I loved her but I didn’t show her…I don’t deserve her forgiveness” She sighs picking up her drink, throwing her head back and slamming all the contents left in the glass down her throat.  She slams the glass back down on the table.  She clears her throat and turns to Luke “Besides you know she has been in a relationship with Kendra Donaldson for 2 years now and she has stated how happy she is in the press numerous times..Im glad she has someone who appreciates her..God knows I should have…I never did” she says sadly and full of regret

Luke places his hand on top of Bette’s and gives it a gentle squeeze

“Bette..I’m gonna tell you something my Momma always told me..“ he pauses and Bette nods

“Let tomorrow be your second chance to prove that you are better than today and yesterday” he says removing his hand from hers

“Wise words..Your Mom was always wise…But she is right…All I can do is show her through my actions I have changed and ask for her forgiveness…Maybe in my mind then I can finally move on from this guilt..From thinking about her..From all the wishing I could go back and never let her go” she sighs as her voice starts to crack “But I’m not sure in my heart I can”
