Kit: "It would have been great to have a band. I can get one if you want."

Christian laughs, remembering what Sasha said: ‘I have to dance with Carmen- just me’: "No, a good DJ will be fine…I need to ask you three important favors."

Kit: "Whatever you want."

Christian: "First, I need to leave two presents here that someone sent to Carmen – they’re a little large to be carried all over the place. Second, I want to ask if you’d call all her friends. She’s going to be very happy to see them. Third, I need the address of an excellent bakery that can make the most delicious birthday cake in all of L.A."

Kit: "Don’t worry. I’ll make sure the gang’s all here tonight. You can leave the presents in my office, and about the cake, Lara our chef – Carmen knows her – bakes exquisite cakes."

Christian: "OK, so I’ll have the guys bring the presents in." He gets up and goes to the door and asks the deliverymen to bring in the pictures.

Kit asks one of her employees to see the deliverymen to her office and make sure everything’s OK. Christian comes back to the table as the pictures are being carried into Kit’s office.

Kit, intrigued: "I never imagined that Carmen liked paintings … how long has she been interested in art?"

Christian, laughing: "I think for two months. But they might not be paintings… I think they’re photos, because she’s very interested in photography, you know…."

Kit, seriously: "And… how is she? You know what I mean, don’t you?"

Christian: "Yes, she told me about the tragic wedding. She’s fine…really. She was in pretty bad shape when she got to New York, but now she’s doing really, really well. It did her a world of good to leave."

Kit: "Mmmhhh? Don’t tell me that you and Carmen…."

Christian nearly dies laughing. "No!! That’s impossible!! Carmen would never be with a guy even in her dreams. I can just tell you she’s fine and that…." He bites his tongue to stop himself from telling her about Sasha. "Tonight she’ll tell you the rest. Well, I have to go now." He gets up and gives her a peck on her cheek. "It was a pleasure to meet you, and let me congratulate you on this place. It’s very nice, and you even have a stage."
