To Live Without You (Chapter 18)
“Yeah, she looks like shit, maybe she just didn’t get good sleep last night.” Shane said, as the writer was getting more worried by the minute. Rumors of Dana’s retirement were becoming more frequent and with that new rookie running around talking shit, Alice wondered if the stress was getting to Dana.
As the first set began the writer found herself very tense for the athlete, Alice didn’t usually worry about Dana winning her matches. It had only been recently that the athlete had much trouble, or even looked like she might not win. Dana tossed the ball up to deliver the first serve, letting the ball drop back to the ground. The athlete obviously wasn’t ready, taking a moment to breath and tossing the ball up again. This time Dana connected cleanly, the ball soaring over the net with speed and precision. The team Dana and Victoria were up against was ranked low, and everyone was expecting a blow out.
Dana and Victoria were undefeated, partially because they were such good friends. They knew each other’s weaknesses and tendencies. But as Dana’s serve was returned, they fell apart, Victoria moved in front of Dana thinking the athlete wouldn’t make it there in time. What resulted was a collision, the ball landing between them untouched. Alice could see Dana and Victoria talk it over quickly, as their opponents prepared for the next serve. The serve came off the opponent’s racquet quickly, straight to Dana who backhanded the ball easily. On the return it came near the athlete who pivoted fast, causing a pull in her injured leg, Dana reached out wincing and missing the ball. Alice watched as Dana missed her second return grimacing slightly, Shane rubbed the writer’s arm in comfort.
“She’ll be fine Al, it’s only the first set anyway.” The hairdresser assured Alice, even though Shane was just as nervous for Dana. It was Victoria’s serve now, the double’s partner winding up for the swing. She got right between her opponents, striking quick and gaining the point with ease. As their challengers prepared to serve Alice could feel the tension between Dana and Victoria through the television. The writer had seen tapes of Victoria and the athlete before they’d, become friends; their matches were always angry, each one seeking to humiliate the other. Their stances and gestures during this match reminded Alice of that time. As Dana returned another serve with very little intensity, Shane and the writer could see angry exchanges between the partners even after points in their favor.

Cool update. Glad that Vic seems to be happy and taking care of Dana. That was a great idea to send her to Alice. She’s probably the only one that will be able to knock some sense into her. Anyways, great update. You know I fucking love this story! Post again soon PLZ!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed your short vacation! :) I would never have thougt you would update this story first! I needed to blink my eyes twice to see you actually updated this one! :D Oh, Alice is torn between these two lovers (and by typing that out, a cheesy 70’s pop song comes into my mind and I can’t seem to get rid of it now :(). I’m glad Victoria went to Alice to talk to her. Hopefully Alice will talk to Dana andDana will listen to her. (But I guess life is a bit more complicated than that and Dana’s drugproblem wouldn’t be solved that easy…) And yes, in my mind Victoria and Dana are perfect…yep, Victoria is definitely out of sight as a love interest for Dana. ;) (I’m just ingoring the fact that the end of this fic is nearand there will be some twists and turns…?!)
Fantastic chapter and well worth the wait! Im on tenterhooks to see how this story works out cos there is so much goin on. Dana is out of control and i hope Alice can at least begin to help her out.. Hmm maybe a long journey ahead!! Keep goin plz. Thanks.
Loved the update! I’m so excited to see what’s going to happen. I hope Alice can set Dana straight…er…uh, I mean…so to speak. I can’t wait for more. I’m glad you were able to enjoy your little vacation. Keep up the great writing.
yay another update – I’m so in love with this story… I hate the break-up, but I’m just hoping that my favourite couple will be able to work it out in the end after all, us Danish fans all know that they can’t live without one another right? great update, look forward to next time as always :) x
Thanks for the great chapter ClosetDana, I look forward to reading what happens next =)
You made my day by posting this particuliar story. I needed my silver lining in that dark cloud hanging over my head.., but you always make my day ClosetDana. At first I thought Alice was quick to forgive Shane, but now I see she needed to be there to give Alice some clarity. The tennis match sounded like hell, but I could see it coming.. with Dana’s drug problem. She’s lucky that Victoria is so receptive to all that garbage that is going on with Dana. She’s obviously well balanced now… and has the love of a good woman, lol. I love the pet names…mmmm, sugar and love. What do you call your girlfriend, CD? So Shane and Alice are getting high huh… more drugs? lol I think it’s cool that Vic went over to Alice’s to talk to her about Dana.. that must have been hard. Once again you leave me hanging… I hope that things work out between Alice and Dana, but I think the timing is all off. I guess I’ll sit here at my computer devouring all these hershey kisses… there must be thousands in this bag. I guess I’ll have to count them as I go… maybe I can trade them for something. I love my sweet chocolate… mmmm. Post soon… I’ll be waiting.
