    Chapter 21 – TROUBLE

“Not if you expect me to walk later.” Bette shivered as Tina raked her nails down Bette’s muscled back as they lay on their sides facing each other.

“Aw, have I worn you out babe?” Tina cooed; her pitch low. “I know you’re older than me but I thought you had more stamina that that.”

“Ha, ha Kennard.” Bette bristled as she gathered her strength and pushed the blonde onto her back, trapping Tina beneath her with her left leg. “I think you were the one screaming ‘enough, enough’, a half hour ago.”

“Hmm.” Tina kissed the smirk off the brunette’s face and tangled her hands in Bette’s wild curls. “Think I’ve recovered.”

“What round is this?” Bette chuckled as she started a trail of kisses down Tina’s torso.

“Does it matter?” Tina sighed contentedly, enjoying the exquisite touch of her lover.

“Uh, noooo.” Bette whispered as her hand worked its way between their bodies and found the wet treasure she desired. Her right cheek lay on Tina’s soft breast. “Mmmm, you’re soaked again.”

“Hungry?” Tina asked. A sly grin creasing her flushed cheeks.

“Absolutely starving.” Bette murmured, shifting on the bed to a better position. She worked her way down the blonde’s gorgeous body, leaving open mouthed kisses and tiny bites along the way. “Mmm, let me see what’s on the menu.”

“Something . . . hot and sweet.” Tina’s head tilted back, a throaty groan followed off her own lips and her back arched as Bette’s mouth reached its destination and claimed her prize.

“Mmm, just what I like. Hot and so sweet.” Bette’s voice drifted off as she made better use of her lips and tongue . . .

    * * * * * *

It seemed improbable to think at that time that Bette and Tina wouldn’t be face to face in the same place, same time zone for another three months. But it did unfortunately happen.

Any and all obstacles threw roadblocks in their way – work, family obligations, health issues, travel and sheer distance kept them apart.

For business commitments, Bette had traveled for a research project to China after their St. Croix holiday and was there for well over a month. While there, she had developed a mild grade fever, but was still able to work and function almost at normal capacity. But the work was grueling and problems with work visas and authorizations further delayed the progress and extended her stay there.

    Comments

    1. It seems to me that Bette and Tina have lasted a lot longer then I thought they would. Its been at 3 or 4 years of being together of sorts. That kind of long distance relationship is really difficult particularly when your are in the beginnings of a career and your family obligations are on the increase. By you previous chapters, Bette too will have her own family obligations to bear which will make more demands on her time. And I can certainly see that the stress of a long distance relationship could become simply too much to bear for either of them. So the question becomes – to continue until something resolves itself or give up your own personal dreams, obligations and projects and go be with the other or stop the mayhem and take a break. And in every scenario, either Bette or Tina or both will not be happy. And thing is, to truly have a workable resolution, they need to discuss all the options and agree upon the path forward. My guess is: that will not happen. One or the other will in the emotion of the moment simply call it quits. That will bring us to today…

Thanks for the update… look forward to Bette and Tina meeting at the convention…

      • Hiya Martha,

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Lots to consider, discuss, plan & hope for. That’s not at all easy to do when the person you want to plan with is 3,000 miles away.

Lots ‘could’ happen, and I’ve already got it all planned out & some of it written. So, the crisis will be real & life altering for them both & will affect many others as well.

So, enjoy the ride & the calm before things get heated.

Thanks for taking the time to read & comment.

        Much appreciated.

        Keep well.

      • Hey Cathy,

That scene is a few chapters away, but it will be very impactful.

Thanks for following along & supporting the novel.

        Tibette rules!!

        ¡¡Atentamente!!

    3. Hey Collins,

How are you doing my friend?
My life has been crazy, lost a dear friend two weeks ago .

Good to see a new chapter!

They lasted longer than I expected, long distance relationships are very hard to keep going however much you are loving each other.
Seems that maybe Bette is going to be the one who breaks it up.

Don’t like Tina’s attitude, seeing Bette after such a long time, needing desperately Bette’s help to help her sister and she is all going to act so casually and cool like it’s a business issue? Maybe it’s the right approach but i don’t know…

Bette’s illness, staying in the hospital for two weeks, doctors not finding the cause? Maybe she did work to hard and pushed her body to the limits. It was sweet to see Tina taking care of her.

Look forward to read the next chapter.

      • Hey Pal,

Sorry to hear about your friend. That’s tough stuff. My condolences.

I hope your life gets back to normal soon.

So, the chapter. As I’ve mentioned to others, this was originally a longer chapter that got shortened because of the subject matter & my little cliffhanger.
The next chapter won’t take so long to post since it’s already written & edited.

I would advise not to be too hard on Tina, she’s a mess emotionally & thinks that being professional will allow her to get through this evening & seeing Bette after all these years.
But that’s all to come very soon. Hope you like it when it’s posted.

Bette’s illness – lots of unanswered questions & will we get to experience it some time again down the line???

Thanks for your support & do take care.

        Chat soon.

    4. Okay, I read it through and so many things going on – are they going to make it long term? Hmm.

And those two items in the velvet pouch, betcha they’re going to be Tibette’s rings. But how did Tina get them both?

And the 3 inch ‘fuck me heels – oh wow. Bette will go wild with that visual. Tina’s legs are just as lovely as Bette’s.

Oh, and I loved this – Think, I’ll show the lovely doctor just what’s she’s been missing all these years.’ Go get her Tina!!

I take it that illness Bette had is a fore shadow of something else to come??? Problems or another medical scare?

Well done, Collins. Keeping us on our toes and guessing!

Have a great weekend and thanks for the update.

      • Hey,

Glad you got the time to read the chapter.

I know – still more questions. But that makes it interesting & you want to come back for those answers!

You can guess what’s in that velvet bag – but how Tina got them is the question that needs to be answered. And, she still has them after all these years. True love!

I’m not a high heel gal, but when I read that the character has on 4 or 5 inch heels, I wonder how in the hell can they walk??? 3 inches for me is good & still sexy too. I did like that.

I’m sure Bette will be thinking about all she’s missed these last years & wanting to kick herself. But that’s all still to come.

I don’t think Bette’s illness was for nothing & I didn’t add it for a one & done. Soooooo…… Irons in the fire for later.

Thanks for your thoughts & happy you liked it.

        Have a great weekend.

        • Oh, believe that I will be coming back for those answers every time.

This is a great story with lots of meat and issues to contemplate.

You are too funny about the high heels – but point taken. The description was great.

So, irons in the fire for later. Sounds like a sure thing.

          Can’t wait for more!

    5. Damn, are they gonna make it? They need to talk to one another and quick.

Not looking good for Tina’s mom. Tina’s got a lot going on and she sure needs Bette to lean on.

      Thanks for the update.

      • Tibette is always endgame!! Don’t fear. But it will be a rocky road to get there.

Next chapter will deal with Bettte & her choices.

        Stay cool!

    6. TK is going to knock BP’s socks off when they meet back up. Wow.

Can definitely feel their angst and doubts.

      Anxious for what comes next.

      • I will do my best to make their first meeting after all this time a very good one. Hopefully you will all like & enjoy.

They have a lot tyo talk about, if they have the courage to discuss it.

Thanks for staying with the story.

    7. I would imagine that the difference between in distance and time zones makes it hard for Tina and Bette to maintain a cohesive environment that they can talk easily and about all things. Their primary longing for each other probably takes president over other topics frequently.

I am looking forward to their reunion, no matter how it will play out. Just love them together.

      Thanks

      • Hey Erin,

With the physical distance between them – that has heightened the emotional & mental hurdles they have to endure & confront every day. Relationships are hard enough to maintain with equality for both parties, but add in the distance, personal & professional demands & that places increased pressure on each person.

        Reunion coming up!!
        Hope you’ll like it.

    8. Like the others that have commented, I’m super curious as to why they broke up, but can see the beginnings of some of the possible reasons. Too much distance, too much family drama for both Bette and Tina. Lack of communication – but that always seems to be their biggest problem in so many stories.

I love the fact that you get inside their heads and make us see what is motivating or not motivating them. Love it all.

Looking forward to how the rest of the remainder of the works out.

      • Hey Leigh,

Thanks for taking the time to read this update.

I try to dig deep into their thought process as I think it gives them more depth of character instead of the just always saying things. Makes it more interesting for the reader.

We’re getting to the meat of the story & will soon have their reunion & the start of the next phase of their relationship.

        Be prepared for drama ahead!!

    9. Love this chapter. Especially the beginning. For sure Tina is a mess preparing to see Bette again after all that time. The low cut dress highlighting all of Tina’s assets plus the 3 inch fuck me heels – she will definitely make a good impression…

What will happen?? I think maybe Bette suggests Tina moves to the UK, Tina doesn’t like that option or that Bette even suggested it leading to more trouble between them – maybe they end up taking a break that leads to them breaking up?? Ah, the drama and the angst. Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Such a great story, Collins.

My favorite line – “Years ago, Tina had promised her mother before Gina had died that she would always look after Ashley. She would be her protector if she needed one and her lifeline always. The blonde would do whatever necessary to keep that solemn promise.”

      • Hey Westy,

FINALLY got your comment posted!! YAY!!

Thank you so much for your efforts to write on this site. Sometimes, comments do get dropped or won’t post – but we got it fixed – that’s what counts.

I was thinking of you when I wrote the bit about TK & how she vowed to always be there for her sister. As I’ve mentioned to you before, I’ve never had a ‘real’ sister – just 3 wonderful brothers instead. But I’ve written TK’ & Ashey’s relationship in a manner in which I think sisters would act & behave in real life.

Yes, you’re correct in lots of drama & angst ahead for our heroines. Some heartache too. But what’s a little drama.

Thanks again for your thoughts & best regards.

    10. Another great chapter. Especially the beginning. For sure Tina is a mess preparing to see Bette again after all that time. The low cut dress highlighting Tina’s assets plus the 3 inch fuck me heels – she will definitely make a good impression on Bette…

    11. Ah, we are getting to the heart of the matter !

Long distance relationship is certainly a difficult situation but I believe there is more to it…I hope Helena doesn’t have a hand in their break up !

We also know that Bette is still suffering the consequences of her illness contracted in China because at the beginning of the story James tells her about it.

I think that Tina is right to take her future meeting with Bette as a business because if she is too emotional, she will lose all her means to express herself correctly, the goal being to find a solution for her sister.

Drama drama drama ! Can’t wait to know more, Don’t be too long please.

      • Hey Izzie,

As they say, we are getting to the heart of the situation.

Keep that nugget of info about Bette’s recent illness close by – it will come back into play down the line.

We’ll see how professional Tina is able to stay when she meets with Bette & if she can keep those emotions in check.

Yes, yes, yes lots of drama coming up. Get ready!!
