Trust issues
Tina asked Francesca how she was feeling and then she asked Marina and Francesca if they could excuse her and Bette for just a few minutes. She asked Bette if they could have a word in private. Bette wasn’t sure if she was ready for this talk but it was probably best to get it out of the way so it wouldn’t be hanging over their heads for the entire meal. Bette looked around for a spot that would offer them privacy when Marina spoke up.
“Why don’t you use my office Bette? I will keep Francesca’s company until the others get here.”
“Thank you Marina. We will just be a minute.” Tina responded.
Marina handed Bette the keys to her office and Bette led the way with Tina following closely behind her. Bette took a few deep breaths and tried to remember Francesca’s advice to give Tina a chance to explain and not jump to any conclusions until she heard what Tina had to say. Once they entered the office and closed the door Tina jumped right in.
“Bette did you get my voicemail from last night?”
“Yes. I heard it this morning.”
“Bette I feel so terrible. I don’t know what to say. It’s like sorry isn’t enough but I am really sorry.”
“It’s OK Tina. You explained that you were talking to Eric. I can understand how you can lose track of time if you’re in deep conversation with someone.”
“We weren’t exactly in deep conversation Bette. It was a continuation of the argument we had in my office last week. Would you believe that he actually told the law partners that I was sick yesterday and that was the reason I didn’t go to his company picnic? He still has them believing that we are in a relationship and that he can influence my decision and change my mind about not using his firm. He’s stringing them along and he wanted me to agree to play his game for another week until they announce the new partners. Bette I don’t even recognize who he is anymore. I spent the last two years with this man and it’s like I don’t know him at all. I was so angry that I threatened a lawsuit against him if he continued to harass me. I’ve already talked to Max and our legal advisors. This could get very serious if he doesn’t back off.”

I just started to read this story over the long weekend. Every time I had a few moment I would read. I just finished your last chapter. I love a great long drawn out love story. Can’t wait for the next chapter
kenji so glad you discovered the story and have caught up. There is a lot going on in this story and a lot of distractions for Bette and Tina so the journey to love has been long and drawn out. The next chapter does bring them closer. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
I am loving this story. Happy that they resolved their misunderstanding. However, Bette seems to have underlying trust issues which are making Tina have second thoughts about their pairing. Sometimes folks over think things. Paralysis by analysis.
Keep them coming.
Paralysis by analysis – You are on target there. Heart over Mind will lead them out of it.
BAT,
I couldn’t remember when was the last time that I commented on your story :) But hey I love everything you write even if sometimes it feels like it is anti-Tina. Hahaha!
This story is a little bit complicated. I do understand about the trust issue bcoz of Tina’s history but I’m with Dainty. Bette should be able to know why T is hesitant with the monogamous thing.
Thanks for posting.
Love,
Scribe
Hey scribe – it has been a while since I’ve heard from you, but happy to know that you are still following the story. I’m really not anti-Tina but I’ve been accused of it often enough so maybe I’m in denial :-)
I think Bette’s trust issues are more Bette’s problem than Tina’s. Tina has her own baggage and I hope to follow Dainty’s advise and allow her to open up more to Bette. I’ve already written 50 chapters of this story and it’s really a re-post but I am taking the time to edit some of the conversations to move in that direction.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Great update. Glad that misunderstanding was cleared up but Tina still has more talking to do and so does Bette. I am always partial to their pairing and just always want to see them together loving each other, and being happy together. You are correct sometimes the chapters don’t show up (like this one), I had to look for it after I saw the tweet showed it had been posted 6hrs before. I had looked for a posting before turning off the computer about two o’clock but nothing was showing, not the tweet nor the story. I have noticed the site seems to be running on pacific time instead of eastern or central. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Dainty for letting me know about the chapters not showing up. I thought it was my computer. It’s good that tweets alert us when a new posting is made.
I know you’ve been reading my stories for many years and I so appreciate your loyalty even when I’ve taken them down and reposted them and taken them down again. I’m fickle that way. But knowing my style you can expect that I generally make Bette and Tina work towards that happy loving relationship. Sometimes it’s painful getting them there which doesn’t make me popular with Tibette fans but what I do promise is that when they get there they are solid and they have the foundation to make it last. That’s my goal with this story … even with the ups and downs they will eventually get it together.
Hey, BAT! I’m glad you responded to my comment, I always feel very good if a writer responds to reader’s comment. :)
Well, as I thought Bette jump to conclusions for Tina and Eric.
but I’m glad that Francesca, talking to her about it. It was an important point in what she said, “what kind of relationship would be between them, if they don’t trust each other”, it is very true!
cleared up the misunderstanding between them, but it is really a long way to go.
It was a good point in one comment: that people too often think it over of things, now it’s the two girls too :D
but I hope soon they will see that their hearts already know the answer! ;)
lipitora – I think when you read the next chapter you will be happy that indeed they have allowed their hearts to guide them. As much as I don’t always take the time to reply to comments believe me I do read them and I am inspired and encouraged by them. I thank you for that.
Phew……Thank God Tina cleared the air with Bette. I was hoping Bette would invite her to the Birthing Center.
Dee22 – you are getting ahead of the story. By the time Alex is born things will have taken a different turn. Stay tuned. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Tina needs to show Bette that she is willing to be monogamous and committed….I think that is part of Bette’s hesitation..At least that is my perception but you are doing a great job with this story BAT!
Pie_Fair – thank you. I agree with your perception but unless Bette gives her the opportunity Tina can’t prove herself. It’s a two-way street. They have a ways to go but they are getting there.
Bette naturally feel insecure with Tina, the blonde spent her open and relationships without commitment.
Tina got to love the same values of Bette.
This reminds me of a poem by Mario Quintana with title “Butterflies”
Thus says:
When we place a lot of trust in a person or expectations, the risk of
be disappointed is great.
People are not in this world to meet our expectations, as we are not here to meet her.
We have enough to suffice us … and we always try to be with someone when we have to be aware that we are together because we like because we want to and we feel good, never for need someone.
People do not need, they are complementary halves … not because they are but because they are whole, willing to share common goals, joys, and life.
Over time, you will realize that to be happy with someone else, you need to first, do not need it. Also realize that the person you love (or think you love) and does not want anything with you, definitely not the man or woman of your life.
You learn to like you, care for you, and especially like who likes you.
The secret is not caring for butterflies, but take care of the garden so that they come to you.
In the end, you will find
no you were looking for, but who was looking for YOU!
10 stars
mscully – I love the poem and it perfectly expresses what I think Bette and Tina will eventually discover for themselves. It’s a wonderful philosophy to live by. Thanks for sharing.
