I moved in front of Grace and answered before Tina had a chance to respond. ” well you know what? I don’t feel comfortable with it. Besides I need to go talk to my brother.”
“What, because of tonight? Shouldn’t Tina….”
“No, Tina should not. My brother and I have to understand how this is going to work.” I pointed between Tina and I. “And I can’t do that if Tina is there trying to make everything better. Understand?”
“Yeah, I get it. Rain check?”
“Absolutely.” I nodded and gave her a quick peck. I can’t see, but I hope Tina didn’t see that.
“Alright. Do you want me to walk you to the door?”
“No Gracie. You don’t have to. Go to sleep, we can have breakfast in the morning. Tina and I have to finish up in here.”
“K, night babe. G’night TK.”
“Night, Gracie.” Tina says over the running water. After Grace closes her door, I feel safe enough to stand as close to Tina as I have been dying to do all night. But when I get close enough to look her in the eyes, she moves away from me.
“What?” I ask.
“Bette,” She looks at me, and I can see tears in her eyes. “This is so screwed up. What are we going to do?”
“What we have to, to be happy.” I tell her simply, wiping the first tear to fall.
“How can you be so strong when this effects you as much as it effects me?”
“Because Tina, just like before…”
“Not like before.”
“I love you, as much as I did, then. So whatever this is that we have with Eric and Grace, it will end.” We just have to figure out how.
“I know. It’s just a bit overwhelming at times, you know. When I see you two like that, it kinda makes it kinda…”
“I know. I feel the same way about you and my brother.”
“So what do we do now?”
“We say goodnight and I walk out. Other than that, we’ll make it up as we go. Same as before.” I tell her through my own tears that are starting to collect in my eyes.
She touches my cheek lightly with her still damp hand. Its warm though, same as her eyes as she says to me: “Ok, then. Goodnight Bette.”
“Goodnight, T.” I answer, grabbing that same hand and holding it with my own. The ringing of the phone brought us out of our reverie. By Tina’s long sigh, it must be Eric’s cell showing on the caller ID.
“I have to take this, or he’ll come over here.” I nod in understanding. I know that if we stood in the kitchen a little longer, Grace would have come to see what we were up to. So reluctantly I let go of the woman of my dream’s hand for the second time today and turned to face the headache that Tina was talking to on the phone. One last reassuring squeeze of her shoulders and I made my way to the door.

well finally you’re back…don’t let s3 and other stories to take you away from your plan…bring B&T together, they belong together…i really liked all the talks between alice and bette and eric..realy funny..i hope B&T will find the way to be together…btw, i’m going to SF ;)
Eric and Gracie must be idiots. Why pursue someone you know is inlove with your best friend/sister. Tina and Bette are stupid too they should never got involved with Eric and Gracie. T&B should just dump them, they don’t need to jump into a relationship with eachother but they need to leave their respective relationships.

They’re torturing themselves and the others. They all know who and who should be together. Then why continue? Tina should make up her mind now, or she just enjoys the awkward and vague situation?

Glad to see you back, Laurelite. That was terrific on many levels: character, dialog, interior monologue; all with a wry sense of humor. But that Eric’s a butthole. How’d he A. get born into the Porter family and B. get Tina at all interested when he is in fact a humorless, short tempered, insecure butthole?
you’re back! have you watched ‘imagine me & you’? well, if you really love somebody, you’ll be able to let them go knowing that it’ll make them happy and it wld be pointless to keep them by your side. that is exactly ehat eric and gracie must do! instead of holding on selfishly to Bette and Tina, making their lives miserable….pls post soon=)PS: are you a Buffy fan?!
Laurelite, I love the relationship that Bette and Tina have in this story as it conveys the emotional journey each of our heroines are on. There is such a wonderful and easy banter between. Such honesty only comes from like safe and secure with someone. Keeping on writing your versions of all the character because I will be here to comment and enjoy their company particularly given the upsetting twists and turns that S3 is taken. This is the beauty of this site. Freedom of choice to post your story and freedom of the reader to view them. But you must get Bette and Tina back together as their unions with Grace and Eric will only hurt everyone and result in a bunch of four very unhappy campers. Please continue soon. Your Loyal Fan.
Man I missed thiis story. I always liked it but when U start adding ‘Buffy” quotes. Yhat moves it right up the list. Welcome back and thanks for taking the time to write.
Eric and Grace is driving me crazy and want to kick their ass and tell them to stop bother Bette and Tina. Bette and Tina need to talk more and they need to break up with Eric and Grace soon and be together again. Ok post soon please, thanks!
