Twisted Triangles – Chapter 44a

“Look,” I start as blunt as possible, “this current set up that we have isn’t working.”
“What do you mean?” Grace asks pulling away from me, worry lines becoming clear on her face.
“No, I mean, this thing with Tina and me.”
“What are you saying Bette? Why are you dragging me in this?” Tina asks annoyed.
“I mean, T- Tina. What I mean is how we’re all carrying on like Tina and I didn’t exist as a couple, it’s really damaging all of our relationships and it has to stop.”
“What relationship? You guys had one date and had sex once.” Eric spits out.
“Little brother that really is an oversimplification of what Tina and I had. Although brief, Tina and I had a very special and intense bond. And I think it’s dangerous to trivialize that.”
“Sorry. I didn’t realize I was doing that. I mean you two never talk about it.”
“That’s what I’m getting to. I mean, not the examination of our relationship, but how it fits in our current relationships.”
“So, you are saying that you two should, like fuck one more time? Because if that’s what you’re proposing…”
“Grace” I stop her by putting my hand on my mouth again, “on what universe would make any sense?”
“I don’t know some girls think that sex equals closure. And you two never finished.”
“That’s another reason for this proposal.” I say.
“Well what is it, sis? I’m all ears.” Tina shoots him a disapproving look for some reason and I can’t figure out why. I press on.
“Ok, I think that Tina and I should have time, alone to talk. Because you’re right Gracie, Tina and I never finished. I know that if we have the space to talk, everything would just fall into place.
“What do you mean?” Grace asks.
“Well, if Tina and I have the opportunity to talk about our relationship, process it fully, we can move on. And by ‘move on’ I mean move away from being romantic partners to friends. And I’m hoping that this would help both you and my brother feel better about Tina and I as a former couple.”
“Sis, you weren’t a couple. Not really.”
“Eric, would have rather I say former lovers?” He turns red as a response. Hopefully it’s from embarrassment.
