“Now you’re reaching. You can’t possibly think she killed Mr. Piddles.”

“I’m just saying…” Bette tries to keep a straight face, while Tina is laughing hysterically.

“Bette stop, I feel a little nauseous.”

“Probably all this Helena talk.” Bette quips but then sees that Tina isn’t kidding. “Baby are you OK? You had that fatigue this morning and now nausea.”

“I’m OK. It’s probably pre-menstrual. I’m a couple days late so I’m sure I’ll get it today.”

“You’re not usually late. I’ve never known a woman that is more regular than you. I can set my calendar…” Bette stops in mid-sentence and gets her date book. She starts counting back to the cruise dates. She looks at Tina with the brightest smile.

“What?” Tina asks confused that her wife is smiling when she feels so miserable.

“Tee. It’s been 16 days since the last insemination. You should have gotten your period two days ago. Do you think maybe?”

“You think I’m pregnant? Babe you think I’m pregnant!! Oh my God!!”

“OK. Let’s calm down. There is only one way to find out.” Bette says sitting on the bed next to Tina.

“OK. Can you please get me a glass of water? I need to make myself go.” Tina says trying to keep the nausea at bay.

Bette gets Tina a large glass of water from the kitchen and can’t help but do a happy dance on the way back to the bedroom thinking that this could be it.

“OK. This time we are trying the HPT where I pee in the cup. I’ll leave it on the sink and then you do the test, and then we’ll wait and look together at the result. How’s that for a plan?” Tina suggests.

“That’s a good plan.” Bette agrees.

Tina drinks the water. It takes a few minutes but soon Tina feels the urge to pee. She gets the sterile cup from the Home Pregnancy Test box. When she finishes, she leaves it on the sink, washes her hands, comes out of the bathroom into the bedroom and sits on the bed. Bette goes into the bathroom takes the directions out of the box and brings them to Tina.
