“Dana! That was Digger Barnes. You’re so ignorant,” scolded Alice. “Allyn Barnes is a chick you dolt.”
“Yeah? Is she cute Bette?” Dana’s daft but endearing grin made them all look fondly at her. Jocks were just not to be let anywhere near art or artists.
“She’s very cute Dana,” said Bette calming down quickly now her friends were there to support her. “Although probably a bit old for you. And I think her husband might object. Possibly her son too. And her grand-daughter might not be too pleased come to think of it.” Everyone relaxed as the bantering continued.
“Was that Helena you were talking to?” Alice asked curiously. Bette and Tina exchanged a look.
“She’s looking kind of foxy tonight,” Alice continued, staring just a bit too closely at the simmering brunette. The three death glares she suddenly received had her backtracking quickly. “In a very evil and manipulative way of course,” she amended. “I bet she has her eye on some other poor unsuspecting fool to get her nasty little rich-***** claws into.”
Well at least Dana wasn’t looking annoyed at her, Tina and Bette’s irritation seemed ample punishment for more Alice foot-in-mouth-isms.
“Not that you wereI meanoh ***** it, come on Dana, I feel the need to empty the free bar,” Alice spluttered, dragging her girlfriend off as quickly as she could.
Dana gave them a helpless shrug of the shoulders and a little wave as Bette and Tina found themselves laughing at Alice’s way with words.
Tina could see the tiredness and strain in Bette’s face along with the glow of happiness over a job well done. Clearly, this had been a stressful few days, getting everything finalized. However, she could also tell how happy Bette was to see her.
“You look great Tina, I’m so glad you’re here,” Bette looked intently into her eyes. “I can’t wait to show you around and introduce you to Allyn. She’s so great.”
Tina smiled happily. Bette was running on adrenaline, on an art show high. This was something she really loved, something she relished, despite the stresses and strains. Bette had a passion for art, and to see her so psyched and buzzing with energy was quite intoxicating.

Your story unfolds beautifully with each chapter. I’m saddened by the fact that the end draws near, but hopeful you will begin a new story when this one finishes. Thanks for writing. Bring on 20!

This is great. I sure hope Tina says yes to Bette – I mean who could resist her. LOL
OMG…what a wonderful chapter. Tina finally got her closure with Helena. Tina stood up to Helena with strength, dignity, and love. Yes love, not for Helena, but for herself and Bette. Helena was there for Tina at a time she needed someone (although Helena had ulterior motive) — and Tina learned a lot about herself with Helena. Anyway, Tina got her closure and Bette finally found the words to tell Tina her real feelings. Bette not only told and showed Tina how much she loves her and wants her back in her life as her “wife,” but she showed Tina her vulnerability. Bette opened herself up to Tina, she exposed herself in a way that she can be blissfully happy or deeply wounded. Big step — and I think Tina saw that in Bette words in addition to the love. Great chapter…I’m saddened that it coming to an end. Thank you.
