What if PT 2 – Chapter four

Bette had already expressed he distaste towards Helena. She was a good acquaintance, but she didn’t like the fact that she had openly flirted with Tina that day at the gallery of her last show. Tina working with Helena was unsettling, but a soon to be pregnant Tina working with Helena was downright horrifying.

“You’ve accepted this offer?” Bette said, with an air of idiocy. She knew Tina. She was a woman who would’ve already thought this through. Yes, she would take into account Bette’s opinion, but Tina wasn’t dumb or dependent on her professionally. She would’ve already made a list and thought it all through—that the offer was good and safe for her—for the both of them. That didn’t mean she had to like it though.

Tina couldn’t lie to her. “Not really, I wanted to talk to you about it. Honestly, Bette I thought it through, got our attorney to look through the contract and add some things…” She paused. “She said they’d offer to work around my schedule and you know the baby.” Tina smiled.

Bette smiled upon seeing her smile. They were both so excited to be new moms. Already they had begun insemination—twice to be exact.

“Should we finish eating?” Tina said lifting a forkful of her own sea bass and offering it to Bette.

Bette drew a manila folder out from her brief case and placed it upon the table.
“Don’t make a mistake, Tee,” she said, “about me. There’s nothing about you accepting this offer that’s going to make me mad at you. “She pushed the envelope towards Tina. “Look.”

Tina trembled. She tore the top and opened the envelope. And then an ecstatic scream of joy was heard!

There in her hands was a contract for Tina-head of development at Shaolin and Bette’s—Dean of Art at CU. Both of them had been thinking of the future and had been trying to compromise in order to make their personal lives and professional lives to balance.

Tina leaped up from her chair and smiled. “Oh! Oh!” Bette couldn’t help but to chuckle.

“Tee, let’s finish first.” She removed Tina’s hands from her hips.
    “Bette!” she pouted.
