What if PT 2 – Chapter four

Dr. Wilson looked to Bette who simply nodded her head.

“Okay well Bette we’ve ran some tests and it appears that you are extremely anemic.” Bette let out a breath of air she had been holding. She knew about anemia as Tina had been diagnosed right before they tried getting pregnant the first time. Of course Tina wasn’t extremely anemic but anemia for that matter just meant she needs to rest some and eat better right? Tina on the other hand wasn’t happy. She had told Bette constantly to make sure she got a bite to eat at work and not to spend too many hours there. Bette used to run often to and she had stopped altogether when she complained of pain.

“I knew it. I knew it.” Tina shook her head and looked to Dr. Wilson. “You know she’s been having headaches, back pain, you know flu like symptoms and she refused to get a checkup…” Tina glared at Bette. “I told you Bette!” she scolded. Bette let out a sigh, she knew she should’ve gone to the doctor’s she just hated it. “Tee I swear I thought it was just work, okay? I’m sorry.”
Dr. Wilson smiled at the two women she had come to know and thought maybe it was time for the good news.

“So are we ready for the good news?”

    “Yes.” Bette said.

“The good news is that it’s treatable. I’m going to ask that you get well rested and follow a diet that I will have one of my nurses to write you up. I will also prescribe you some meds. It’s important that you abide by this, because you are extremely anemic. Bette I also advise you to take some time off from work. If you’d like I’ll be glad to write you a doctor’s letter letting whoever at the gallery know that’s its necessary that you take a long break.”

Before Bette could protest Tina intervened. “We’ll take that letter!”

    “Tina I don’t know. I just don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“Bette did you not hear? I’m pregnant with our child. Do you want me to be stressed out about you on top of being pregnant?”
