When the Day Leaves You, Final, part 2

Bette made sure Shane was asleep before making her way to the bedroom. She knocked lightly on the door before opening it a crack, and spotted Tina sitting in the window. Peeking her head in, she said softly, “Can I come in?”

Tina snapped out of her thoughts and tucked her hair behind her ears, “Of course,” and Bette took a seat at the edge of the bed. Pulling her knees to her chest, she said, “I wouldn’t believe her, Tina, but the tests…”

“I just can’t imagine what she must have been through—all these years. It’s unimaginable to me.”

“I know, me too. Even though I’m not completely sold on my part in all of this…”

“What do you mean,” Tina asked, taking a seat next to Bette on the bed. “Oh, Bette, the girl has your mother’s face, especially her eyes when she smiles. I noticed that, right off the bat.”

“You did,” Bette asked, turning to face her. “Because, I noticed it, too.” After a few seconds, she continued, “So, what do we do now? If you were going to tell me this morning that this would be the way my day was going to turn out…”

“I know, but then, if it made sense, it probably wouldn’t have anything to do with our families, you know?”

Bette quietly laughed as she leaned forward and buried her face into Tina’s neck. “Please tell me you’ll have the procedure. I know you’re afraid—but this was handed to us, I mean, it literally fell from the sky. And, I think we should take advantage of it.”

Tina wrapped her arms around Bette’s back and smelled her hair. “I’ll have a talk with Shane tomorrow, if she feels up to it. I want to make sure she’s okay first.”

Bette pressed her mouth to Tina’s ear. “You’re a beautiful person. I don’t know how you keep it all together.”

“I have reasons to keep it together.”

Tina smiled and leaned back so she could see Bette’s face. “You must be tired.”

“Tina,” answered Bette, “I don’t think I’ve ever been this exhausted in my life.”

Tina carefully slid her body from under Bette’s arm and grabbed a robe from the chair. She quietly made her way down the hall where Shane was now standing in the kitchen. “Oh, hey. I hope you don’t mind, I made coffee.”

    1. Great chapter Bette can be so suspicious. This has to be so wierd for Shane, her sisters girlfriend is her sister. How do you explain that to your friends? Can’t wait for the finale. PPS

    2. This wa a great story, I really loved i!! Now I`m waiting for a sequel… hope that there`s a chance that you`re gonna write one!? Please! Hope that Shane and Tina are gonna be okay!

    3. Okay great post but where’s the rest of it? If the finale is in two parts, where is the next page? You can’t just leave it like that, we need to know about the donor part of it and what happens to all three of them after the surgery. And that Tina and Bette get together and stay together and that Tina is finally well and can live a long and normal life or as normal as it can be. PPS
