When the Day Leaves You, Final, part 2

    “Wow, that’s, that’s a lot.”

“Okay, well, we can start off slow.”

Shane bit at her thumbnail and studied Tina’s face. “You mean, like, right now.”

    “Why not now?”

“Okay, well, uh, let’s see…I grew up in an orphanage, but, I don’t think they call them that anymore. I guess I was about…sixteen, when I moved in with the McCutcheon’s, I think, yeah, I was sixteen.”

    “Were they nice to you?”

“Oh, yeah,” Shane said through a smile. “They were great, really great, but, they fostered so many kids, I felt like it was too much for them sometimes, so I left when I turned eighteen.”

“And, how did you find out about my mother? Isn’t that kind of thing supposed to be confidential?” Shane turned and saw Bette standing in the doorway.

“Did you ever meet my mother, did she ever contact you, did you ever contact her?”

“Bette,” Tina said, “let her talk,” and Shane stood up, “No, it’s okay. She doesn’t trust me.”

“See, Tina, she’s smart. Go on, Shane, by all means, please continue.”

Shane thought about it. “I guess you can say she contacted me, but only the one time.”

“Oh, I’m intrigued,” Bette snapped, as she walked onto the deck and pulled up a chair. “So, what did she have to say?”

“She didn’t say anything because she was, dead.”

    “Excuse me?”

“I was working in Philadelphia and a lawyer came to tell me that she had died.”

Bette leaned forward and looked at Tina before redirecting her attention to Shane. “You mean, you were in Philadelphia that whole time?”

    “Well, that’s where I’m from.”

“And, who was the lawyer, what was his name?”

“I don’t know, I don’t remember, but, I’m sure the bank has it.”

“Why would a bank have his name?”

“Because he’s the one that set up the trust, I think.” Turning to Tina, Shane added, “Well, my mother set up a trust.”

Bette sat back in her chair and lifted her arms. “This just keeps getting better and better. So, she left you money…”

    “Yes, that’s what a trust is…”

“And this whole time, Alice, you had her snowed into thinking you were some homeless kid living on the street…”

    1. Great chapter Bette can be so suspicious. This has to be so wierd for Shane, her sisters girlfriend is her sister. How do you explain that to your friends? Can’t wait for the finale. PPS

    2. This wa a great story, I really loved i!! Now I`m waiting for a sequel… hope that there`s a chance that you`re gonna write one!? Please! Hope that Shane and Tina are gonna be okay!

    3. Okay great post but where’s the rest of it? If the finale is in two parts, where is the next page? You can’t just leave it like that, we need to know about the donor part of it and what happens to all three of them after the surgery. And that Tina and Bette get together and stay together and that Tina is finally well and can live a long and normal life or as normal as it can be. PPS

    4. Oh god, more waiting. Never mind, I getting really good at it. Super job on this story Girl. You got me on that last twist, so now I’m looking for them in all your posts.
