When You Least Expect It – Chapter 6

Shane offered a sad smile as she leaned over and rubbed her friend’s arm for comfort, "Just hang in there. It’ll get better"

"I think you should just give up"

Everyone’s eyes immediately went to Alice who had been chewing on a chunk of ice while looking inside her cup for another suitable piece to eat. The blonde looked up to find everyone staring at her and shrugged innocently, trying her best to speak with a mouthful of crushed ice.

"I’m just saying. I mean, okay" She swallowed the now melted ice in her mouth, "I know I was one of the first one on board the whole Bette and Tina relationship train but maybe TK hopped off. Look at her, she’s dating now-"

"It wasn’t a date" Bette said defensively.

"Okay fine, she’s non-dating now. My point is she looks like she’s moving on . . maybe you should too"

Bette sat in her seat, not saying a word as she contemplated her friend’s words and how right they seemed to be. Bette couldn’t deny that she had hope that Tina would come around but as the days rolled on, it appeared less likely.

Maybe the situation with Janice did too much damage. Maybe Tina was just going through a phase and never really harbored any feelings for Bette. The thought of the latter made the brunette sick to her stomach.

Though Bette didn’t even want to consider the possibility of Tina not having feelings for her, she couldn’t seem to completely rule it out. Things with Tina went far beyond playing hard to get and Bette wondered if it would be safer to just give up like Alice said.

Not only was the group suffering from the issue Bette was having with Tina but the brunette couldn’t forget that Angelica was very much involved in their mess. Bette hated that she had gone from spending every single day with Angie to seeing her a few times a week. The brunette found herself wondering if her feelings for Tina were really worth putting everything at risk.

Maybe she should just give up, push her feelings to the back of her mind and instead try to repair the friendship she once had with Tina. At the very least for Angie’s sake.
