    Chapter 51

    Chapter 51

     

    At this pre-dawn hour traffic was light.  If Tina had been half in the present instead of half in her mind she would have smiled at the observation.  Instead the way things are going it was just a grim reminder of what her life has become.  It was always a joke between her and Bette, the traffic when she was driving versus Bette.  The familiarity of the roads and the almost automatic pilot mode she was functioning in now left her thinking of the past.  Bette driving in traffic is a classic memory.  It seemed that when they were together and Bette was driving she always ran into far heavier traffic than Tina.  It was their gridlock joke, something that Tina could tease Bette about when she was in a good mood.

     

     Tina didn’t know if this was real or just a perception but it didn’t matter.  Bette always reacted to the gridlock the same, a string of searing cuss words would stream from her mouth.  Even today at the memory of these frequent events made Tina cringe.  It was the forceful delivery more then the actual words themselves that left its effect on Tina.  Tina’s gentle nature at the time was put off by Bette’s violence leaving her to sit quietly in the passenger seat.  She never wanted any of the venom Bette spewed to be directed at her. 

     

    When the memory was over, Tina’s heart clinches in her chest.  Cursing herself she brought herself up short.  She had caught herself reminiscing about the past.  These trips to memory lane were dangerous for Tina. It was a past she thought she had left behind.  Again she is reminded of her vow to herself before any of this mess happened.  It was her vow that the only way she would ever be here back in LA let alone be in this position would be if Bette came looking for her.  Looking for her yes but more importantly making her desire for Tina known.  Tina feels her heart and she knows it wants nothing more than to be back with Bette but it can’t happen this way.  If she surrendered to these feeling now the last 16 years would be for not.  No, nothing has changed, if Bette has any feelings in her heart for Tina she will still have to come of her own volition and get her.  She can’t give in, she must be strong.  Tina is not going to be Bette’s doormat, not again.

    3. That was alices big mouth.this whole story I have had a fear,{Yes right, ALICE] Surely they can explain Candace, The fact that she and bette were together for yrs the miscarrage, anf them Candace. thanks

    5. I knew it. Why had Alice to throw this name in the room? But maybe it’s good and all comes out and Bette can right the wrong. Could you please post a little earlier, because at this time I will be in church to hear the Christmas story. Merry Christmas to you.

    7. What – The – Hell???? Did you hear that? It is me…screaming: NOOOOO!!! FUCK!!! I mean it is a bit unfortunate that Angelica heard the truth this way but it is the worst scenario that she thinks Candace is the love of Bettes life and screames it in Tinas face. What a nightmare! Jwet I wish you a merry christmas and please save mine…post the next chapter and make everything right…PLEASE!!! Jay
