Shane steps forward extending her hand to the young woman but before contact can be made Shane stops frozen. She feels rooted to the floor. It was as if she had been transported back in time. She recognizes this child. It can only be one with that chin and nose. This is the child that represented the bridge between Tina and Bette. The one they all mourned over when it was lost. Before her despite all reason was a child who could only be Tina Kennard’s child.
Angelica began to become embarrassed by the woman in front of her. She was staring at Angelica so hard she swears the woman was looking through her. She seemed warm and generous but then stopped as if lost in another world. Not knowing what to do, Angelica looks behind her. Was there someone else who changed this woman’s manner? Not seeing anyone Angelica becomes self-conscious. Looking down she immediately begins to try to explain her presence.
“Ahh … Frankie said it would be OK.” She says quickly but her words are having little effect on this woman. “Me staying here last night. If it’s a problem I’ll just leave.” Angelica offers.
When the woman in front of her continues to stare she looks down at her feet and starts to turn to leave.
“No wait.” Shane yells coming out of her stupor. “Frankie’s right. You’re welcome I’m sorry. You just remind me of someone I haven’t seen in a long time.” Shane moves again toward Angelica wanting to prevent her from leaving until she could learn a little more about her. “I don’t know what to say you just took me to a place I haven’t been in a long time. Forgive me.”
Angelica sees that Shane has once again extended her hand. Taking it she introduces herself, “I’m the one who should be thanking you. I stayed back there last night. It was nice.”
Shane’s mind is racing. She was dying to ask a million questions but knew better. She recognized a skittish teenager when she saw one. Wanting to be as non threatening as possible she began asking easy questions. “So you know Frankie? She is one of my favorite skaters. The things she can do with her board’s amazing.” Shane says falling into her easy going manner which has served her well over the years.

Jwet, I really like this chapter. I so thought that Kit would be the first to actually talk to Angelica, but it was SHANE!!! I love it, I love how she’s trying to sneak Bette in so she could see her daughter. I really hope that Angelica gets to see her other mother, but what about Tina?? Where is she exactly?? Is she still in San Diego or is she on her way back to LA?? Just wondering, can’t wait for the new chapter!! PPS!

Well, I can see Bette letting Tina have it, but she should compartmentalize and not take it out on Angelica. I can see her being flustered at first, it’ll knock her socks off for sure, but the whup ass should be reserved for Tina. The new calm Bette with lots of perspective should take a mini vacation when she finds out who Angelica is and Tina finally makes her appearence… I’m sure you’ll figure out how to right the ship after the storm… : )

The time is getting close. I can only guess that Shane is about to come undone knowing that this is Tina’s child and most likely Bette’s also. This is so exciting.

Wednesday cannot come quickly enough! Just love the way you are weaving the connections…Kit catching a glimpse of Angelica, Shane recognizing Tina’s features, Angelica being captivated by Bette’s mural and the possibility of their working together…wonderful chapter. Hey J – if you’re giving demonstrations to Jo I want a ticket too! LOL! I am smiling so freakin’ wide here! I am so excited that she finally hooked up with Shane. Why? One because quickly she will meet Bette and TIna will be on her way, so I KNOW that they will at least see each other. I don’t even have to mention, but I will, that it also gives Bette time to know her daughter and work closely with her, whether Angie knows who she is or not. I love that now that Shane knows, she can make sure Angie is taken care of and out of trouble. She damn near escaped a lot of bad stuff that could have happened to her if she hadn’t made the friened she did! I need, and I am not beyond begging, you to post soon! LOL! I know I haven’t been as good about it as I usually am and life takes over and all those things, but man I am on the edge of my seat here! Thanks for the post! Excellent as always!

Hello JWet, Am blushing at your fine comments back at me. Thank you so much for those wonderful words. As you know, I just write it as I see it. I think that age and maturity come to the fore here. Only once you have lived a little can you really comment from personal experience. There is joy in the enthusiasm of youth but the majesty of maturity has its benefits. Now on to the story, holy moley that was perfection. It was awesome to read how Shane just instinctively knew that Angelica was Tina’s daughter. Yoda still has it all going on. Loved that she was quick on her feet and managed to arrange for Angelica to stay awhile and most importantly meet Bette. It was just one of those spine-tingling moments; lightning struck and then the earth shook. Shane is still the watcher of all those around her and her innate ability to see through the various veils people hide behind is legendary. Now Angelica just knew that Shane was there for her and had her best intentions in hand. I can’t wait to see if Tina phones Bette first or Bette meets her child first. Angelica is still a part of Bette if they were both unaware of the other’s existence. Tina may have a few questions to field in the near future. I am overwhelmed by your wonderful talent and ability to have things fall into place, just like dominoes; one falls and the rest follow suit until the image is revealed.
