“Really I didn’t get to see her skate that much. She’s coming by in a little while to teach me a few things.” Angelica supplied giving Shane a clue.
“Oh she is is she? Well you need to consider yourself lucky because Frankie doesn’t go out of her way to teach anyone anything too often. Usually it’s all about her rubbing everyone’s noses in her neat tricks.” Shane shares. Trying to establish who Angelica is without behaving like too much of an authority figure, “So what do people call you?”
“Angelica but if they are real good friends they call me Angie.” Angelica responds.
“So what do I get to call you?”
“I think Angie will work.” Angelica answers back feeling easy in Shane’s presence.
They each stand there smiling at each other as they come to an understanding between them. “So you stayed here last night?”
“Yeah over there.” Angelica points.
Shane looks back, “Well Angie in town long or just passing through?” Shane’s casual tone masking her turmoil underneath the surface.
Caught up in her own turmoil, “Well … I’m not sure. I haven’t … I’m didn’t …” Angelica stammers her answer not sure what to say.
“Great we’d love to have you around a while. Do you need anything? I mean you are more than welcome to stay here but if you have other plans I could understand.” Shane moves the conversation forward. She is frantically searching her mind for any way to make Angelica talk yet leave her in her comfort zone. Shane moves towards the doorway which leads out to the skateboard park.
Struggling to respond to Shane and not sound stupid, “No I really don’t have any plans at the moment.” Following Shane as she walks around Angelica looks around. The park and surrounding building looks better in the light of day.
“Good staying fluid, not a bad idea. It’s been such a busy time around here so speak up if you need anything. I’m always available.” Shane offers throwing a glance at Angelica.
Angelica doesn’t really respond. “You’ll find things pretty easy going here. Not many rules other than treat others like you want to be treated.” Shane says stopping.
Angelica walks on then stops and turns back to Shane. “That’s cool. I can do that easy.” She says but isn’t looking at Shane any more. Her glance is captured by the mural on the building. Last night she didn’t even notice it. But this morning it captures her, depicting the skateboarders in various moves that Angelica had only learned about last night. The mural was amazing to her.
Shane notices that she is staring at the mural and turns to look at it too. “Nice huh? The person who created it for us helps out a lot around here. Maybe you know her Bette Porter?”
Angelica continues to look at the art, answering Shane by just shaking her head.
“You know that if you were staying for awhile you might be able to work with Bette.” Shane decides having the idea hit her on the fly. “She’s looking for an assistant. I don’t know what requirements are needed but would you be interested?” Shane asks totally putting herself out on a limb, there is no job she is making this up as she goes along.
“Oh I don’t know if I would be worthy of anything like that. I mean I’m pretty good at painting and such but what’s she looking for?” Angelica asks liking the idea but not sure of anything.
“I don’t know maybe we should call her up and find out. Come on let’s go back into my office and we’ll find out.”

Jwet, I really like this chapter. I so thought that Kit would be the first to actually talk to Angelica, but it was SHANE!!! I love it, I love how she’s trying to sneak Bette in so she could see her daughter. I really hope that Angelica gets to see her other mother, but what about Tina?? Where is she exactly?? Is she still in San Diego or is she on her way back to LA?? Just wondering, can’t wait for the new chapter!! PPS!

Well, I can see Bette letting Tina have it, but she should compartmentalize and not take it out on Angelica. I can see her being flustered at first, it’ll knock her socks off for sure, but the whup ass should be reserved for Tina. The new calm Bette with lots of perspective should take a mini vacation when she finds out who Angelica is and Tina finally makes her appearence… I’m sure you’ll figure out how to right the ship after the storm… : )

The time is getting close. I can only guess that Shane is about to come undone knowing that this is Tina’s child and most likely Bette’s also. This is so exciting.

Wednesday cannot come quickly enough! Just love the way you are weaving the connections…Kit catching a glimpse of Angelica, Shane recognizing Tina’s features, Angelica being captivated by Bette’s mural and the possibility of their working together…wonderful chapter. Hey J – if you’re giving demonstrations to Jo I want a ticket too! LOL! I am smiling so freakin’ wide here! I am so excited that she finally hooked up with Shane. Why? One because quickly she will meet Bette and TIna will be on her way, so I KNOW that they will at least see each other. I don’t even have to mention, but I will, that it also gives Bette time to know her daughter and work closely with her, whether Angie knows who she is or not. I love that now that Shane knows, she can make sure Angie is taken care of and out of trouble. She damn near escaped a lot of bad stuff that could have happened to her if she hadn’t made the friened she did! I need, and I am not beyond begging, you to post soon! LOL! I know I haven’t been as good about it as I usually am and life takes over and all those things, but man I am on the edge of my seat here! Thanks for the post! Excellent as always!

Hello JWet, Am blushing at your fine comments back at me. Thank you so much for those wonderful words. As you know, I just write it as I see it. I think that age and maturity come to the fore here. Only once you have lived a little can you really comment from personal experience. There is joy in the enthusiasm of youth but the majesty of maturity has its benefits. Now on to the story, holy moley that was perfection. It was awesome to read how Shane just instinctively knew that Angelica was Tina’s daughter. Yoda still has it all going on. Loved that she was quick on her feet and managed to arrange for Angelica to stay awhile and most importantly meet Bette. It was just one of those spine-tingling moments; lightning struck and then the earth shook. Shane is still the watcher of all those around her and her innate ability to see through the various veils people hide behind is legendary. Now Angelica just knew that Shane was there for her and had her best intentions in hand. I can’t wait to see if Tina phones Bette first or Bette meets her child first. Angelica is still a part of Bette if they were both unaware of the other’s existence. Tina may have a few questions to field in the near future. I am overwhelmed by your wonderful talent and ability to have things fall into place, just like dominoes; one falls and the rest follow suit until the image is revealed.
