You break it, you replace it – Chapter 9

    “I’m not hungry” Tina objected

“OK” Alice relented “But you need to rest. Do you want to stay here tonight?” Tina nodded silently

“Will you stay with me Al? I don’t want to be alone” Tina looked so broken, Alice didn’t even know how to begin putting her back together

“I’m not leaving” Alice assured “Dana and Shane are over at my place, they could come over too if you want?” Tina considered this but then shook her head

“I can’t…I’m not ready for…that yet. Maybe tomorrow” She offered

“Yeah, yeah there’s no rush. You just do what you can right now” Alice put her hand to Tina’s back and rubbed it gently

“I’m gonna take a shower” Tina nodded

“I’ll call Dana and let her know that I’m staying with you tonight”

With that Tina hauled her worn out body off the couch and made her way slowly to her bedroom.

“*****” Alice sighed deeply as she rubbed the back of her neck. She sat still in the silence and dreaded the long night ahead. She too was exhausted but sleep wasn’t going to claim her tonight with her mind trying to come to grips with all that had changed in course of a single day. She thought about trying asking Tina to take something to help her sleep. No doubt they had something lying around but getting Tina to take it was likely to be difficult. The shower started running which ensured that Tina was out of earshot so Alice pulled out her cell phone and called Dana.

When Alice ended the call she stood to go and inspect Bette’s alcohol selection, deciding that she could use a shot or two to settle herself. The twilight had been replaced by darkness long ago so she switched on a couple of lamps around the lounge to take the edge off the dimness. Alice found a bottle of tequila and deftly removed the lid before pouring a double shot into a tumbler. She held the tumbler in the air

“Here’s to you Bette Porter” Alice took a second to ward off the looming tears before swallowing the golden liquid in one hit. She relaxed slightly as the liquor burned its way down. Placing the tumbler on the kitchen bench she set about replacing the lid on the tequila when a car pulled into the drive. A hint of annoyance crossed her features ‘who the ***** is coming around here on a night like this?’ She questioned silently, removing the lid from the bottle and taking another mouthful before moving to the door with the intention of confronting this moron that had no tact whatsoever.

    1. That is a relief she isn’t dead. This story is SO GOOD I am anxiously awaiting your next post. I am hoping Tina and Bette will be able to have the right conversation that will lead to a reconcilation

    2. Amazing! Even though we ‘knew’ you could not kill Bette off, you had us wondering the whole time which is really a work of art on your part. It took all day for Bette to come home, without a call, and her entrance was touching. I sort of wish Alice had stayed to maybe walk Tina out to Bette in order to dull the shock. How is Bette going to greet Tina without scaring the bejesus out of her :) Great story!!!

    3. Okay I have just read your entire story so far. Wonderful Story, hell it’s awesome. My heart is beating like a freight train. Can’t wait to read what you have in store for us next.

    4. I am still trying to get my breathe back. I hope Tina realizes as did bette you only live once and mistakes happen and we need to look at the Big Picture for what they really mean and continue with Life. Please post soon. thanks
