“Come on, how many times have we done this over the past few years? It’d be, like, jinxing your game if I didn’t talk to you beforehand. But I should go, I need to get working on some script ideas for the Chart. Which all fucking suck, by the way. But yeah, you have a good first match and that goes for the rest of them too if I don’t get to talk to you before them, okay?” She wanted to ask about the biopsy, but figured that’d be crossing the line. Besides, Dana was weird about talking important things through. In all the years Alice had known her, Dana had put her feelings on the shelf probably 95% more than she’d ever been honest about them.

Dana sensed the hesitation in Alice’s voice and sighed. She knew she could just avoid talking about it altogether, since Alice was so fragile right now she’d never even consider bringing it up on her own. It really hurt to know that; anytime prior to about six months ago Alice would have demanded to know everything that was going on. Hell, she’d have been at the fucking biopsy. And Dana, despite herself, wished that she had been. More than anything. She’d ended up telling Lara not to come with her, much to the chef’s annoyance. Somehow, the only person Dana wanted around her during anything medical or serious was Alice. So, she decided to stop being such a pussy and just tell her.

“The test went pretty well. I’m not going to know the results until after the tournament, so that’s kinda freaking me out. But the procedure itself wasn’t too bad, and Dr. Wilson said it’s probably just a benign mass anyway, nothing to worry about.” She tried to keep the worry out of her voice, but she knew she wasn’t fooling Alice. Hell, she wasn’t even fooling herself. She was scared to death and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t keep her mind off the impending results.

And not very surprisingly, Alice knew that. “Yeah, but that doesn’t mean you’re not worried, Dana. You’ve got every right to be. I’m so sorry, I wanted to call you after you had it done, but I figured that’d be…too soon or something. You know?”

    1. I really LOVE this story. I WISH it was S3…it’s so perfect. I just want and more and and more and it’s so sad that I know how it’s going to end. (Or at least by the show’s standard) I feel bad for Lara cause we all know she knows. Alice and Dana are meant to be, and it really sucks that Lara has to get hurt because of that. I feel for her. I don’t know how or when they are going to get together but I really hope it’s soon. They need eachother. Love like that just doesn’t end, it’s hard to ever make it go away. Although it really is awesome that they’ve become best friends again, or are at least working at it, I hope their hearts find their way back to eachother…great job, I can’t wait for the next update! You’re fabulous!

    2. First off, I’m a little embarrassed. I can’t believe that I didn’t recognize the “bi” thing. I think I try too hard to block Season 3 from my mind as much as possible. An Easter Peep? Haha. I must say, I’ve never seen Lara that way. That cracked me up though. Great update. I really enjoyed it. The “I love you’s” seem to be slipping out a bit more freely, huh? That’s cool with me. I have to agree about the Billie Jean King comment :) I love when Dana plays tennis. I wish we could have seen more of it. I suppose it could be a little hard with Erin Daniels not actually playing tennis, and being so little. I love tennis. All this Dana and tennis talk makes me want to go play. The weather is too crappy here though. Freak snow storms in October…who would’ve thought? It cut down my tennis time. Anyway…apparently I ramble too. I love how you’re getting Helena more and more involved. It seems more realistic than what you mentioned earliar about Helena suddenly flying Dana on her private jet. I also love the fact that Alice is being so supportive for Dana, even though it’s clear that it’s painful. I’m really hoping you’re going to change the ending of season 3. I know they can’t all be “happily ever after’s”, but I’m still hoping. Keep up the great writting. I really love it, and can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.

    3. Excellent update, and I love your take on moments and details we recognize on the show, very well done. Especially Dana whispering to Alice that she was OK while giving her that hug. Yes, you are definitely giving Lara waaaay more texture (especially as she senses all is not well in LaraDanaLand..) and it’s really enjoyable to read. I like the interplay between the three of them. Keep it up! PPS!

    4. So, okay…just how far down this road are you going to go? And won’t you please consider getting them back on track before chemo starts? Really great stuff. PPS

    5. Wow,ur a great writer babe! Im glad your going with the direction i said,( youll get the readers babe) LA here we come, better watch out ladies!!! HA PPS

    6. Ok…I just caught up with this story. I didn’t want to relive S3 again. But after scanning this story, I caved in, read it and now I’m hooked. Although it’s sometimes still painful to see the hurt they’re going through and the awkward moments that comes out of it, I really like your take on it. I would like to imagine that this storyline was also running next to the original storyline of S3 but IC had to cut all the scnes, because there was no time or no budget to actually air it. ;)
