You (Part the Nineteenth)
Shane just laughed. "That’s a polite way to tell me to get out of here, huh? Okay, I’ll go over there and tell Dana that Alice is out here. I’m sure everyone else wants to see Alice too…is that okay?"
"Oh, sure it is. She’s not too bad off medically, she’s just tired. Had a lot weighing on her. If your friends want to stop in and see her, that’s fine, we’ll just make sure the visits are short. Thanks for coming as fast as you did, Shane. I tried Helena but couldn’t get ahold of her."
"Yeah, she’s got some stuff to take care of herself. I’m pretty sure her phone was off, but I’ll try her pretty soon here."
"Thank you, dear. I did call Dana’s mom and dad, and they said they’d be on their way soon. You might even see them when you’re in there."
"Okay. Hey, I wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done. You’ve been amazing." Shane looked at her feet while she said this, and Anna just laughed and pulled her into a decidedly maternal hug. Shane returned it a little more forcefully than she’d been expecting.
"I’m just doin’ my job, honey. And I’ve taken a liking to both of them, along with their friends. Don’t you worry about it, I’ll take care of them the best I can." She pulled away from Shane’s grip with a smile. "Get on, now. Alice is never going to get any rest if we stand here talking all day long."
Shane just nodded, too overcome with emotion and gratitude to say anything. Anna gave her some simple directions on how to get to the recovery room, and after kissing Alice goodbye she made her way to Dana’s bedside. She’d been warned that her friend didn’t look good, but quite a bit of the blue tinge Anna had warned her about had gone away as the new fortifications to her bloodstream made their way through Dana’s system. She was breathing evenly and on her own, the respirator having been removed an hour before, and the heart monitor was beeping steadily. Dana looked surprisingly good for someone who’d technically been dead less than three hours ago. Shane knew she wasn’t even close to being out of the woods yet, but seeing her looking alive instead of like death warmed over did wonders for her mood.

hi muted – i havent commented on this story until now but i wanted to say THANKYOU so much for writing it…all the gaps have been filled in Ilenes disastrous version and my favourite character has survived! I love this story so much, I search daily for the updates with baited breath! I hope it will continue through Season 4 and beyond! Seeing clips of the new season without Dana is heartwrenching and makes me damn angry she’s not there – but hey, she may be in your fabulous version eh??I await the next instalment, long live Danish and long live yourself! x
How did I not know that I fell behind on this story?! I am slacking, but it’s nice to come around and find this lovely chapter waiting. You know how much I adore Dana and Alice and I am thrilled to read such a wonderfully inspiring and hopeful story. I want to see them dance again, can you do that MT?! xoxox
You are just killing me with this story & I can’t get enough. It is so damn good & so well written … you completely have me on the edge of my seat.
Beautiful. Thank you. PPS
Awesome…Just Awesome…I love Helena…Shane is great! This is so damn good…Keep Up The Great Work!!!
Okay, so last night I was dealing with a major bout of insomnia and turned on the computer and saw your post at 3:45 in the morning and was so excited that I had something to do while I couldn’t sleep. And I left a comment that probably made no sense, but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. However, I must have been more comatose than I thought b/c apparently I didn’t do it properly and it isn’t here now…so anyway, let me paraphrase: This chapter is so awesome, just like the rest of the story. I’m loving your story so much that I’ve forgotten about the awfulness that was season 3 and your story has completely become my reality. I’m fully content believing that this is what really happened with Alice and Dana. That may have been the most delusional thing I’ve ever said, but I’m really okay with that. Seriously though, you rock and this story is absolutely beautiful!
I’m totalyl with swismiss! I’m happy t black out season 3 and go with this, so no pressure or anything but you’re practically writing season 4 for all of us :D This was soooo good I almost cried, I’ve never cried at a fanfic before but if you keep going this way with all the emotion I may just do that. So now you gotta sit and write more cause I need my fix too!! xxx
I read this what seems like a while ago, but like swismiss, I was completely out of it, so I’m back again now. :-) You must get tired of us saying great chapter, but it was. lol I love the friendship between Helena and Alice. They are fiercely loyal to each other, and Helena is just on the outside enough not to have divided loyalties when it comes to the rest of the group. If Dana didn’t survive, I wouldn’t mind seeing Alice with Helena – but it might be better for Alice not to go the best friend route again.
