Crossover Challenge: Just us …
“Just us then,” said Bette, raising her glass to Helena,
Helena met her across the bar as the glass from their cocktails chinked together, a slow smile on her face, “Us …”
Bette paused, “Who’d have thought it?”
Helena shrugged, “Is it really that bad having a drink with me?”
“No …”
Bette was quick to defend, too quick. Alice’s plans for a group night out had rapidly gone pear shaped and all that remained were the two dark beauties propping up the bar; one downing vodka martinis with ice and a slice whilst the other threw back lethal mojito’s,
Bette frowned, “Helena … why are you drinking mojito’s?”
Helena’s smile turned sly, “Papi …”
Bette nodded, there wasn’t much more to say, she’d seen the aftermath of Papi’s work,
Helena twirled the stem of her drink, “How are things with you and Tina … really?”
Bette paused, “Alright …”
Were they really going to talk about it, was it really possible that Bette Porter and Helena Peabody could be more than civil?
“Bette? … you know she totally sold me out” Helena added, stirring the remains of her cocktail furiously, “some bullshit about having to ensure Angelica’s future … I have children too you know”
Bette hammered on the bar, ordering up another round before answering her, “How are they, your children?”
“Fine … in New York of course, where I’m not …”
“And Peggy?”
“Fine … as always … still punishing me by forcing me to live out the rest of my miserable existence on Alice’s sofa”
Bette chuckled, one thing could be said for their evening, her problems seemed to melt into the distance when compared to Helena’s,
“Don’t laugh!” said Helena, “it’s fucking uncomfortable”
Bette passed her another mojito, “More, or less uncomfortable than the back of Papi’s limo?” she asked dryly, unable to let Helena antics escape without at least a small jibe,
“More … so what about you then?” asked Helena, fuelled by her ‘mojito’ bravery, “Is Bette Porter really single again?”
“Helena, I’ve been ‘single again’ for a long while …”
“Really …”
“Yes really”
Helena shrugged, “Cos you were always kind of ‘will they, won’t they …’ I thought …”

wow…ok…wow…that was one of the best things i’ve ever read on this site. I’m going to have to re-read to get the full impact all over again, kinda like when you take one of those rides at a theme park and just haven’t had ENOUGH adreneline. you captured the total essence and hotness of helena/bette…how great they would be together if only…if only…fantastic sofa, just fantastic. smack on the behind for you!

I hesitated u know cuz its HelBette but because it was you, and I so love your writing I could not deny myself the treat!!!! and treat it truly was….congrats on the noms, of course u so deserve ’em…now if u decided to continue this story, I think I could just bear to read more (lol)….as long as u write in a ‘happy’ tina with someone fabulous. see? you HAVE to do this again…cuz people liked it too much…and you’ve gotta do it for the PEOPLE! see? i told ya so. ok, another brilliant thing, and then I’ll write more brilliant things about this story later: is how you captured that ‘in the moment’ buzz that characterizes so much of what is perfect about this paring. they’re tooootally in the moment, not worried about baggage and nonsense. totally chill–you got that, which is itself, totally chill of you. ok, i’m going to sleep now and will rave about this more tomorrow. i’m gonna talk you into doing this again, i promise you that;)
Thank you for all the comments people have left, I wanted to reply here rather than in my next story, to sort of ‘book in’ and ‘book out’ the belena fic. I said I wouldn’t write another one, and I certainly won’t for a while, just because I have others already on the go and also exams coming up, but I wouldn’t rule it out in the future just on the basis of not wanting to write belena, it doesn’t flow as easily for me as writing tibette but then i suppose it isn’t always a bad thing to step out of your niche .. anyway, thank you for all the comments, well done to the other writers and i hope everyone enjoyed the challenge. Wow, that was… intense. Are you sure you’re still a Tibetter, Sofa ?… ‘Cause I’m starting to have doubts about that… Tina Who ? LOL !!! I mean, for a die-hard Tibetter, you have quite an imagination ! LMAO !Anyway, you are simply brilliant ! Oh, and the beginning of your story was absolutely hilarious ( I literally spilled out my tea laughing this time… And my laptop suffered from that “event”. LOL ! ). Really, it seems you have written BeLena stories all your life. In fact, I’m curious : how much research did you do about Helena exactly ? I’m sure it must have been a huge sacrifice for you, huh ? ! And as much as I know you must hate the mere idea of a Bette and Helena hook-up, I need to say that you seem soooo at ease with writing these two as a “couple”.
