Dear Diary—Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Tina entered the Planet hoping to see Bette behind the bar and smiled when she noticed the thick dark locks she had loved for so long pop up from behind the counter. She made her way to the bar and pulled out a stool to sit. Bette had her back to her so she waited thinking Bette would turn around any second but after several seconds Tina figured that wasn’t going to happen. She began tapping her fingers on the counter hoping Bette would hear her but to her growing disappointment she didn’t. Tina sighed and decided to go vocal.
”Can I get some service here?” She asked rather loudly causing Bette to jump.
Bette turned around and clutched her chest.
”Jesus Christ you scared me!” She exclaimed removing her hand from her chest.
”I’m sorry. I was waiting for you to turn around but you were enthralled in something” Tina said as she took off her blazer and sat in the stool that contained her briefcase.
”Yeah. It’s my resume. And thank you by the way for the recommendation. I really don’t know what to say. You’ve been so kind to me….How about a drink on the house?” Bette said flashing her smile that always made Tina weak
Tina found herself staring at Bette’s smile and quickly shook her head to refocus.
”Well I’m not going to turn down a free Bourbon on the rocks if you are offering” Tina replied watching Bette grab a glass and pour her drink.
”So has Bourbon always been your drink of choice?” Bette asked as she sat a napkin down on the counter and placed Tina’s drink on top of it.
Tina grabbed the drink and took a sip looking up at Bette who was leaning in close to her.
”Uhmm? Yeah. I started drinking it while I was at Stanford” Tina answered and heard her cellphone ring ”Shit!. I can’t get a minutes peace. Excuse me” Tina said answering her phone not looking at Bette who had turned her attention to another customer at the bar
”No Tom!..The motion has been filed!…The judge accepted it..Well?…You should have filed that with the court…Get your ass in gear for your client Tom and file your paperwork on time. Don’t burn up my phone over your own incompetence!” Tina exclaimed slamming her phone down and taking a big gulp of her drink. ”Damn! Sometimes I wonder how these idiots pass the fucking bar!”

Oh boy… Haleigh is a mess… Sounds like this is not the first time she has called Tina for help or to be bailed out of jail. And there is what 15 or 16 years difference between Haleigh and Tina ages. So Tina and Bette are about 33 or 34 years old and Haleigh would be about 18 or 19 and she appears to be a mess. I think that we can look forward to some more problems for Tina in the future.
So now Bette has a job in her chosen professes ion – accounting. Maybe she can get on her feet with this job.
And I understand that Tina is going to have problems separating her personal feelings from her professional judgement. She is still very attracted to Bette… so let’s see what happens.
Thanks for the chapter… keep them coming.
