    i’m baaaaaack…. the sequel to ‘hanging by a moment’

    “Spencer Carlin?” someone asked. The voice belonged to an airport security officer who had appeared out of seemingly nowhere.

    “Yes?”

    “You’re going to need to come with me,” he informed me. I kept quiet although a horrible feeling formed in the pit of my stomach. My mind was working overtime though, coming up with dozens of different reasons why this was happening. I had been crying, which could look suspicious? Maybe? Or perhaps it was a mistake? By the time we stopped walking, I had decided that someone had slipped drugs into my bag and I was about to be arrested. My fears were only reinforced as I was escorted into a bleak room with steel walls, bare except for 2 chairs and a desk.

    “Wait here,” the man ordered. I did as I was told and took a seat in the chair that faced the desk. Minutes passed by, then what felt like hours, and nothing happened. Nobody came in and I was almost sure I had missed my flight. Suddenly, however, I heard a door creak. I was prepared for bomb squads and scores of police or National Guard troops; needless to say, I was a little surprised when the visitor was revealed. It was Ashley.

    “Are you kidding me? Is this some sort of joke? What are you trying to-“

    “Spencer, listen-“

    “No, you listen,” I fumed. “I just missed my flight… the last flight to LA today, and-“

    “Just hear me out, alright?” she requested. “And I promise I’ll fly you back home when we’re done.” I gave my acceptance in the form of a shrug and waited for her to proceed. She fidgeted with one of her bracelets before speaking.

    “I just want to tell you that… I’m sorry. I say this to you all the time and I feel like shit for it… and I know I keep fucking up and you really shouldn’t give me a second chance, but-“

    “A second chance? You mean, like, a 5th? How many times are we going to do this Ashley?” I interrupted her.

    “I’m sorry,” she sobbed. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…” I remained seated, watching her fall apart right in front of me. My heart began to ache but I kept the same, stoic expression on my face. She continued to cry and I watched on, speaking only when she appeared to be calming down.

    8. First off, I just wan to say that I am SOOOOOO HAPPY that you are finally back, I just LOVE your stories. Second, I can’t believe that Mr. C has cancer. He can’t have cancer, he is a great dad and I really wish that he was my dad. I just hope that he can get rid of it and NOT die. I hope that Ashley and Spencer will be okay and that Spencer will not get depressed about her dad. Just post the next chapter real soon.
