I Need My Best Friend – Part 7

    Chapter Seven

    Sunday Night

Bette had mixed emotions about how the afternoon had gone.  She felt that she was really giving her best effort to the talks they had been having and had tried to cooperate with the way Tina wanted to handle things.  She still felt she was in a precarious position; after all she was the one who had been unfaithful.  When she thought Tina was about to end things between them this afternoon she was glad she stopped herself from just bracing for the fallout and had stepped up to the conversation.  But she still felt like she was just reacting to Tina and thought maybe it was time to be a little proactive.  She couldn’t forget what Tina had said about not being ready to hear the answers to her questions.  She wasn’t all that ready to answer those questions, but it was going to have to be done sooner or later.

Not seeing Tina for the next few days was really bothering her.  She felt like they had to keep talking to keep things moving forward.  She didn’t want to be too forward for fear that Tina would pull away.  She needed to come up with something that would keep her in Tina’s thoughts, but nothing too over bearing.  It wasn’t quite time to pull out all the stops, but it was time to step up the pace.

She had damaged so much with her infidelity she wanted to begin to reclaim the life she had treated so carelessly.  She had decided to write Tina a letter.  It needed to be clean, simple and to the point.  Something Bette did very well at work, but she had always used extravagance in place of words in her relationship with Tina.  This time she wanted Tina to hear the way she felt, to know without a doubt that she would never have an equal in her heart.

It had taken the rest of the evening and several rewrites, but she finally had the letter she wanted.  She had changed direction, but the essence of what she needed Tina to know was there.  As she carefully folded the cream linen paper and placed it in the envelope she hoped it would be received as she intended.

    1. This was absolutely brilliant! Love the letter and the conversation between Bette and Tina..so loving, so tender, so honest..keep ’em coming please..and thanks for this!

    2. wow, they’re quite level headed on handling themselves. Yeah, I think reviving the old habbits that keeps the fire in relationship is surely a place to start. Your series doesn’t lack drama but it’s still so real. sometimes life is dramatic enough without any attempts to make it dramatic.

    3. What a wonderful story. It brought me to tears. You have a wonderful gift. Please continue to share your beautiful story with us. I am looking forward.

    4. Just read this installment, and it was fantastic. Thanks for letting Tina tell Bette that she has forgiven her, it meant so much for Bette to hear that. Can’t wait for the next chapter. Thanks
