I Need My Best Friend – Part 7
Just as she was about to fall asleep the phone rangit was Tina.
‘Hello.’
‘I wanted to tell you good night and thank you for letting me off the hook this afternoon. I owe you one.’
‘I know how you can repay me.’
‘Should I be afraid to ask?’
‘Just let me take you to the airport tomorrow.’
‘All right, be at the center at 3:00.’
‘I’ll be there.’
Monday Morning
She was glad she had enough work to do to keep her from clock watching. She had taken the letter out a few times rereading it just to make sure it wasn’t too much. She knew they had made progress this week and didn’t want to do anything that might cause Tina to feel uncomfortable. She decided to stop second-guessing herself and just go with what she felt. She placed the letter back in her bag and vowed to leave it there until she gave it to Tina.
She arrived at the center a few minutes early. As she entered the reception area she saw Tina with a small boy. His hair was chestnut; his skin caramel and he had the most beautiful hazel eyes. As she got closer she could see he had skinned his knee. Tina lifted him up and sat him on the counter.
‘You’re being so brave. Does it hurt?’
‘Not much, Hi!’
Tina turned and smiled when she saw Bette.
‘Hi, I’m Bette. I’m a friend of Tina’s. How did you hurt yourself?’
‘I fell off the swing.’
Tina said, ‘this might sting a little.’
He looked at Bette and reached for her hand.
Tina whispered, ‘try to distract him.’
Bette held his little hand, looked around and noticed the finger paintings on the wall and said, ‘did you do any of these?’
He pointed out the one he had done. She went on about how wonderful it was and told him all about her job and how she got to look at paintings all day. She asked if he had ever been to a museum and then of course had to explain what a museum was.
Tina patted his arm and said, ‘all done.’
She put him down so he could go back out to play. As he ran toward the door he turned to Bette and said, ‘can I come to your work?’

So sweet and tender let there hearts give in and surrender.
great on the road to reconciliation.
This was absolutely brilliant! Love the letter and the conversation between Bette and Tina..so loving, so tender, so honest..keep ’em coming please..and thanks for this!
I’m so glad Tina has forgiven Bette. I can’t wait for their next conversation.
Thanks again.
Nicely done. The pace, the love the two share, the healing.
wow, they’re quite level headed on handling themselves. Yeah, I think reviving the old habbits that keeps the fire in relationship is surely a place to start. Your series doesn’t lack drama but it’s still so real. sometimes life is dramatic enough without any attempts to make it dramatic.
What a wonderful story. It brought me to tears. You have a wonderful gift. Please continue to share your beautiful story with us. I am looking forward.
Just read this installment, and it was fantastic. Thanks for letting Tina tell Bette that she has forgiven her, it meant so much for Bette to hear that. Can’t wait for the next chapter. Thanks
I’m loving this. Can’t wait for the “Tina Comes Home” episode.
