    The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 1

    The Roommates:

    Bette & Tina are first year students who find themselves rooming together in their first year at UCLA (University of California Los Angeles). Though Tina starts the year as the girlfriend of her high-school sweetheart, Eric Anderson, and Bette starts the year dating a delectable co-ed named Sidney, Bette and Tina end up exclusively in each other’s arms by the end of the first quarter.

     

    The Roommates – 2nd Dimension

    The sequel to the first story chronicles the remainder of Bette & Tina’s freshman year. They journey together through understanding the power and unique connection of their special bond. Together they face the loss of Bette’s grandmother and the reunification of Bette & her mother. Tina struggles to deal with her sexual identity and its impact on her life, while Bette finds herself coming out to her father and dealing with the ramifications of her revelation. As the year comes to a close, Bette heads to New York to spend the summer with her mother and Tina prepares for a week in San Francisco for a week before heading to LA to room with Dana & Alice while pursuing a summer internship with Alphaville.

     

    The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 1

    Though the long morning and her wrenching departure from Tina’s presence had been extremely difficult, Bette had enjoyed the morning and afternoon she’d spent with her mother, aunt, and grandmother. The last time they were all together, it was for the remembrance and burial of her grandfather. This time around, there was no morose pretense. They were a family and they were hanging out as a family. They’d gone to a champagne brunch and Janice had even allowed her 19 year old to have a glass of champagne. From brunch they’d taken a walk down to Hollywood boulevard and all four of them had their picture taken with Harrison Ford’s star. Harrison Ford was Bette’s grandmother’s favorite actor.

     

    They wrapped up their whirlwind tour of the city with a visit to the Queen Mary. They toured the ship and as they talked they bonded. Their laughter brought a sense of calm to Bette and eased the fresh wound of Tina’s absence. Everywhere they went, Bette would see little things that reminded her of Tina. Or things that she knew Tina would like. It had only been a few hours, but it felt like much longer. And the knowledge that she couldn’t just go back to their room and fall asleep with Tina in her arms was ever-present.

    6. Hello MTS, I have just finished consuming your latest adorable adventure. I feel like an addict ready for my next fix. Your words haunt me as the bonds between mother and child are examined. Janice is only now starting to appreciate the joy that her daugther can bring to her life. While Tracy knows that something is different about her child. Tina isn’t helping matters with her secrecy and odd behavior. The mirroring of these events is awesome. As always, MTS, you provoke and makes us all think. Brilliant.     9. Tina’s mom is so close to guessing what is going on with Tina. It is nice to see that Bette is getting the royal treatment. Before Bette was all stressed but now she is more relaxed and now it is Tina’s turn to stress out.

    19. I am glad you brought us the next phase of the story. I am liking that Bette and Janice have this time to bond and get to know one another. Tracy is being a rude unsupportive bitch to Tina and then wonders why Tina won’t talk to her. Maybe if she treated her with a little respect Tina wouldn’t feel so terrified of being herself. Fantastic writing!
