The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice

A soft pink hue settled in the young woman’s cheeks and she looked away.

“I know I can’t make up for the last few years in 3 months. But I am so excited about you coming to New York. This is like a dream for me. Before Dad passed away, the idea that we would be living together would never have crossed my mind. And now, I get to have you for the whole summer.”

Janice saw the subtle smile that graced her daughter’s lips. The warmth swimming around those dark brown eyes. And she knew that even though Bette didn’t speak praises about their summer cohabitation, she knew that the young woman she’d given birth to was happy to finally be in her mother’s presence.

The blonde placed a warm hand on her daughter’s arm. “I love you, Bette.”

Bette shyly met her mother’s gaze and whispered, “Love you, too.”

Janice studied her daughter a little more and she said softly, “You miss her already, don’t you?”

Bette’s sore spirit was both comforted and embarrassed at the transparency of her emotions. She didn’t want her longing to be so obvious, but she was also grateful that her mother understood Tina’s importance. Grateful that someone understood Tina’s importance. Bette’s dark brown eyes looked away and her vision grew blurry behind a wall of unshed tears.

She nodded in response to her mother’s question.

Janice’s hand found itself making gentle circles against her daughter’s back. “It’s okay to miss someone you love, Bette. I’m sure she already misses you, too.”

    Bette nodded.

“You know, I used to feel that way about your father.”

Bette gave her mother a curious look. “Really? About Daddy?”

Janice smiled and nodded. “Yeah. I did. He used to be so caring. I used to feel like the center of his world. When he gives you all of his attention, you feel so special. So privileged.”

“Yeah? Can’t really see that about Daddy.”

The blonde shrugged her shoulders. “Well, a lot has changed since then. Somewhere along the way, his insatiable drive took over. He always needed more than he had. Always lusted for things. People. Attention. Status. Power. When he’d conquered me, he moved on to the next conquest. I felt used and abused and discarded. But believe me, there was a time when I walked in your shoes. When all I could think about was the phone ringing and my life revolved around him calling me.”

    1. Hello MTS, I have just finished consuming your latest adorable adventure. I feel like an addict ready for my next fix. Your words haunt me as the bonds between mother and child are examined. Janice is only now starting to appreciate the joy that her daugther can bring to her life. While Tracy knows that something is different about her child. Tina isn’t helping matters with her secrecy and odd behavior. The mirroring of these events is awesome. As always, MTS, you provoke and makes us all think. Brilliant. Just loving it all. many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    2. Tina’s mom is so close to guessing what is going on with Tina. It is nice to see that Bette is getting the royal treatment. Before Bette was all stressed but now she is more relaxed and now it is Tina’s turn to stress out.

    3. I’m so glad to see you post! You have no idea how much I love the two other stories that preceded this one. Thanks for taking the time to continue with this series. ;D

    4. I was only thinking yesterday how much I missed this story, was even going to PM but then thought ‘no pressure’ and here u r. That was ssssoooooooo intense & I hate them being apart as much as they do. I wanna say PPS but no pressure. Thx.

    5. I’m happy you see you back. I loved the others two stories of Roommate. Which way you may go with B&T. I hope without much drama and a happy end for this two as a happy married couple.

    6. Hey MTS, It is so wonderful and a real treat to have you back on the site and posting more of this magnificent melodrama. I just adore everything you have wriiten. Can’t wait to immerse myself in your delicious drama. I’ll be back when I’ve read this new chapter. SO excited that I can hardly make sense of the words. Yippee!!! Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    7. Such a amazing suprise to see you posted again! Great chapter. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of us have been in this situation with their mother much like Tina is right now. I can only wish her the best. Please post again soon.

    8. I am glad you brought us the next phase of the story. I am liking that Bette and Janice have this time to bond and get to know one another. Tracy is being a rude unsupportive bitch to Tina and then wonders why Tina won’t talk to her. Maybe if she treated her with a little respect Tina wouldn’t feel so terrified of being herself. Fantastic writing!
