    Bette’s House

”This was gonna be your birthday present,” Jodi said as she set down a black box decorated with silver mesh ribbon and a bow on top of the glass table. ”Um…whatever.”

Bette watched her ex walk out of her front door before taking a few steps toward the table and picking up the box. Carefully pulling off the ribbon, she opened the box and saw the Tag Heuer label on another box inside. She lifted the top of the second box to reveal a very classy and expensive diamond-encrusted watch that only served to worsen the guilt she was already feeling.

Drawing in a deep breath, Bette set the box down again. ”Jodi,” She whispered dejectedly. She looked at the watch she was wearing and wondered if she’d have time to shower before she went to the Planet to pick up Angelica. ”Fuck. I better just go get her.”

Bette fetched her keys and her purse and draped her suit jacket over her arm as she locked up the house before getting into her Lexus SUV.

    The Planet
Tina activated the alarm on her car and walked briskly into the Planet. She pulled her phone out of her purse to see if Bette had messaged her back but was disappointed yet again. There was hardly anyone in the café or the bar and no sign of Kit.

Tina leaned against the bar and began searching for Bette’s number in her phone. Her attention was soon drawn to the employee door behind the coffee counter and Tina smiled brightly when saw Kit coming through holding Angelica.

”Oh! Guess who’s here? Look!” Kit squealed at Angie while pointing in Tina’s direction.

”Hey! Hey baby girl! Hey! It’s so good to see you!” Tina said as she lifted Angie from Kit’s arms and kissed her toddler.

”Who’s that? It’s Mama T, yeah!” Kit said while at the exact same time, Bette appeared at the door and immediately smiled upon seeing the three most important people in her life. ”Oh, and Mama B!” Kit squealed again when she noticed her sister.

”Mama B’s here, say hi,” Tina told Angie as she handed her off to Bette since it was her visitation day.

”Hi, my little pumpkin pie. Oh, I missed you.” Bette said drawing sweet Angie in tight and giving her a solid kiss on her cheek.

    1. What a wonderful take on that hot mess called Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter. I thought I was the only one that couldn’t stand that IC contrived character called Jodi Lerner. No way, IMO, that Bette would hookup w/Jodi, b/c Jodi wasn’t physically Bette’s type. Too frumpy and matronly. Marlee lost a bunch of weight and toned up on DWTS and seemed more of Bette’s type then. Sorry to be so shallow but it is Hollywood fiction. ;-)

      • Hi AZ!! So good to see you again! I tend to agree with you that the Jodi-Bette ‘ship was awkward, but probably for different reasons. The physical didn’t bother me as much as the personality clash. They didn’t start off on the right foot in the very beginning so it was doomed to end bad. Remember Helena’s old adage, what begins in chaos, ends in chaos. It’s like Bette smoked a little pot and was still high throughout their relationship. All bad. Thanks for reading and coming out to comment! Hugs!!

      • Great job, enjoyed it very much. And, by all means, please give us more of this vignette and any others you think we readers would enjoy. Thanks much for posting.

        • Thank you, Dainty! Nice to see you comment again! As far as this story goes, I could absolutely write a different one but I’m not sure i could actually continue it. There are a couple other scenes I think I’d like to tackle and develop. Stand by!

      • Thank you, cellphone! I’ve got a few irons in the fire as far as ideas go. It’s just a matter of finding time to sit and bang ’em out. I will do my best!

    2. Loved the way you filled a gap
      the series left open.
That’s why I always say, I’m glad that writers like
you fix what the series left to be desired.
      Continue to fill these gaps.
      I await new chapter.
      10 Stars.
