The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 4

    Previously...

Bette’s eyes were heavy and her shoulders sagged. “It’s incredibly hard on me. But I realize that I have to keep going. Every day, I have to keep pushing myself. Maybe one day it’ll get easier.”

Sidney was quiet, still nibbling on her food. She felt Bette’s hair, rubbing the ends between her fingers. “Your hair is getting long and shaggy. Your ends are split. I’m going to make an appointment for you.”

Bette shook her head. “You don’t have to do that.”

“It’s the least I can do. I’ll make the appointment and text you the details.”

    “Sidney…”

“No, Bette. I’ve got it. Just let me do this one thing. Okay? Please? I need to do this, okay?”

    Bette sipped her water. “Okay.”

The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 4

On Friday morning, Bette finally climbed behind the wheel of her dark blue coupe. It was a 2020 F-Type Jaguar and it still smelled like a new car. As she pulled out of her driveway, she said “I suppose this reality does come with a few perks.”

She followed the Google Maps directions given by her phone and parked across the street from the hair salon. True to her word, Sidney had booked her an appointment. Though her split ends were far from being her biggest worry, Bette thought the distraction might help. She’d spent the previous day meeting with three different private investigators to track down Tina. Dana thought it might be overkill, but there was no such thing as far as Bette was concerned.

And while the need to find Tina was an intrinsic part of her reality, the day-to-day hum of real-world, adult responsibilities had begun to settle into Bette’s consciousness. She needed to get back to work and get this show off the ground. She needed to do things like pay bills and answer emails.

Bette walked in through the door of the salon, which was simply titled “Shane”, and gave her name to a receptionist. A stylist with green eyes and an effortless smile gave her name as Tara and led the way to a bank of shampoo stations. Tara’s talented fingers felt good on her scalp and Bette closed her eyes, savoring the sensations. An hour later, Bette was smiling at her reflection and admiring the way her straightened hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders.

    1. Thanks for the Post.

Of course I’ll be sticking with you and this new story! However, do still feel in need of some sort of closure on the old one :-)

Looking forward to more on this, please.

    2. Christina Kenard is now Christina Anderson – Chris Anderson. Wonder if that is a married name? She’s 34 years old also. And Bette is a married woman as well….Huummm.. Now the story is taking shape and direction….wonderful.

    3. Hi MTS:

Well, Bette found Tina, but this Tina is already married, right?

Because in your first story, “the roommates” Tina has a boyfriend Eric Anderson, and if she and Bette never met before, that means that she continued her relationship with Eric.

I remember Eric’s last name was Anderson, and now Chris Anderson means that she married Eric.

But apparently Tina always had some feeling for women, because in your first story, in their first encounters, young Tina was almost hitting on young Bette; even when she had a boyfriend.

And now again, she feels something that draws toward Bette Porter and she wants to be friends.

So, Tina was always kind of attracted by women but it didn’t awake until she met Bette in the other dimension, and here I think it’s awaking, right?

Okay, I’m ready for the ride.

Wonderful story and excellent chapter, pps.
