The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 5

Bette screamed in joy as she drove home. She had watched Tina watching her from the curb and waited until she couldn’t see her anymore before expressing her happiness. She’d been so down and sad and then suddenly, Tina had appeared like a mirage in the desert.

And that made Bette doubt. She thought back to their interaction, how effortless it felt to talk to Tina. How right it felt to see her again. This couldn’t be real. It had to be some warped creation of her consciousness. Maybe this whole thing was bullshit. Maybe she was dead. Maybe she was in a coma. Maybe she wouldn’t wake up.

The chorus of doubt was roaring loudly when she pulled into her driveway. She let herself into the house and made her way to the master bedroom, hoping Dana would show up. Dana didn’t disappoint and showed up like she always did, knocking on the garden-side door before slipping into the bedroom. She wore a wide smile and for the first time, her soft blue eyes were twinkling with happiness. She hugged Bette tightly.

    “You found Tina!” she exclaimed.

Bette smiled shyly, in spite of herself. Her eyes watered. “I did find Tina.” Coma dream or not, it had felt so good to be in Tina’s presence again.

Dana jumped up and down, the loose strands of her dark brown hair moving as she did. “I’m so excited for you.”

Bette’s reserved demeanor cooled off Dana’s excitement. “What’s wrong?” she asked.

Bette sat down on the bed. “This whole thing is bullshit, isn’t it?”

Dana eyed her curiously. “What do you mean?”

Bette gestured around her. “This house. That fucking sports car. My life. Seeing Tina. All of it. This is some fucking coma dream, right? I’m lying on a bed somewhere dying. That’s it, right? This has all been just a major mindfuck.”

Dana stood before her and placed her hands on Bette’s shoulders. “I thought you were over this. I thought you finally understood that this is real. This is your reality.”

Tears slipped from Bette’s eyes. “Dana, you can’t be real. This is all bullshit. I mean, I get trapped here and then make all these plans to find Tina and then suddenly I literally run into her on the street.”

    1. Now, I’m hooked into this story….Bette has yet to realize that getting Tina back is going to take more than a few phone calls. They are both into rather complex lives which will need to be unraveled before they can be together as they were in the previous lives I wonder what Alice thinks of this new Bette?.

    2. Thank you for the new update!

So, Bette has some her memories from this reality back, it’s good. But what strange that she still didn’t ask herself why Tina has different second name.

      Ok, waiting for the next!

    3. Hi MTS:

Wonderful chapter, more information for Bette’s brain, and I see that Tina is very eager to talk and interact with Bette, Maybe she is also the woman of her dreams.

So sad that Dana would, eventually, be gone.

Bette is definitely changing and adapting to her new life, and now with Tina at her side, she may find out why they change into a parallel reality.

Thank you for the chapter, and pps.

    4. Very interesting way to prove that Bette was not dreaming…LOL. Nice chapter, hopefully T + B can speak on the phone undisturbed – meaning, maybe there is no more Eric or anyone to distract Tina from the call.

    5. The whole Bette and Dana conversation about shitting in your dreams had me in stitches. I means tears rolling down my cheeks laughing. This chapter was fun to watch ultra Type A not have a control at all, watching her get irritated and frustrated ready to flop down to die from her mindfuck.

      Brilliant!
