DCL 4 – The First Of The Pretty Birds
Vicki “It’s not a sob story, Miss Lane. It’s reality. It’s a reality Metropolis doesn’t have to deal with and you should be thankful for that.”
Lois “Oh, I am thankful. I’m thankful that whatever troubles Metropolis is having can be dealt with, without so much distrust. Take a look at the statistics, Miss Vale. We’re one of the most peaceful cities in the United States, a fairly low crime rate for a city of our size, and yes we do have Superwoman. We also have a police department that people actually like. A P.D. that doesn’t appear to have corruption like Gotham City does.”
Vicki “…Do you know that for a fact?”
Irene “Ladies, if we could… Let me ask you, Vicki about these ‘Caped Crusaders’ as you call them. How many do you think there are and do they possess the same powers as Superwoman of Metropolis?”
Vicki “No one knows for sure.”
Lois “I personally have my doubts. Be honest, Vicki. For all you know, this whole thing could just be a hoax by a less than reliable police department and maybe your inexperienced Commissioner or Mayor in an effort to drum up some attention you weren’t getting. Until Superwoman, no one cared about Gotham City except as Metropolis Light…if not for this network being here, what would Gotham City really have? Wayne Enterprises? With its young, somewhat goofish owner Helena Wayne?”
Vicki “You have a lot of nerve not only coming to Gotham, but running it down! These Caped Crusaders are real! They will become known when they’re ready. It’s only a matter of time before someone is able to spot them publicly…and hopefully without some LexCorp type entity waiting for one of its workers to coax them out.”
Lois “Are you accusing Lex Luthor of coaxing Superwoman out into the public?”
Vicki “I’m not accusing anyone of anything, Lois. I do think it’s time you consider the people you and your city call ‘heroes.’ Gotham City is the reality. We have heroes. They hide in the shadows, but they fight in the name of justice.”
Lois “Oh, you are so full of it.”
Irene “I detect that between the two of you, this only builds to the rivalry that still persists between Gotham City and Metropolis.”
