Nobis Pacem Chapter 3
Harley sang into the mike, “you know you’ve got the power girl to keep me holding on. So now that you’ve got the rest of me, come on and take the rest of me, oh baby…”
I smiled as I sang the next part of the song, “Though you’re close to me we seem so far apart … maybe given time … you’ll have a change of heart … if it takes forever girl then I’m prepared to wait … the day you give your love to me won’t be a day too late…”
I passed the mike on to Marc as he and Carol danced next us, so he and Carol led the group in the chorus of the song as they sang the words out soulfully to each other.
“That a song for us, too?” Harley asked, bending to whisper in my ear as danced and swayed to the swing song.
I laughed and whispered back, “Yeah … song #1, 1a.”
The mike had circulated to Katy and Michael so we joined in the group’s impromptu singing. Everyone continued to sing lustily even through the fadeout. As the song ended, everyone gave their partners sweet kisses.
I felt content just being able to hold Harley in my arms.
Jim was the last to hold the mike so he said, “Think we just had game-changer there, huh? I didn’t think that anyone could top Harley, but I guess we found someone who could, right guys?!” Everyone laughed at his double-entendre, but clapped and whistled.
Everyone parted around us as Jim said, “So … Aerin are you going to claim your prize?”
I shook my head and faced Harley, smiling at her. I leaned over and gave her a soft, quick kiss.
“What?”
“Is that all?”
“There were sparks there. Everyone see it?
“Surely there’s more?”
I raised my arms up resignedly, “I’m beat guys. And I’m pretty sure Jack isn’t going to like it if he finds out I kissed Harley tonight.”
“Oh yeah. Jack.”
“Who doesn’t share a tenth of the chemistry you have going on there.”
I shook my head from side to side, mouthing, “No mas. No mas.”
The crowd quit their tease and started chatting in groups soon after.
Michael and Carol walked over and asked with some concern, “You need a ride back?”

I really like the characters and where this is going. I can really feel Aerin’s struggle.
