Nobis Pacem Chapter 1
Jules was nodding her head vigorously. “And in the whole time we’ve been friends since then, I’ve either given you advice or helped you get over all the girls you’ve been with, right?”
I poked her shoulder, “It’s not like I’ve been with a whole lot of women, Jules.” I blushed and stole a glance at Diane, who looked at me with warmth. I knew that she regarded me as she would younger sister. For the longest time, ever since I’d met her, Diane had been the yardstick against whom I compared prospective girlfriends. Not many made the cut, as I’d just reminded Jules.
But Chris had blown past all my yardsticks. I’d never met anyone who could compare with her beauty, or could evoke anything approaching the soul-stirring feeling that she raised inside me with just a glance.
“So I think that you are mixing up all these chaotic feelings inside you and are searching for a way to just box it all up, am I right?” Jules pressed.
Diane looked at Jules with a frown. I was confused, too.
“Baby, do you want to back up a bit?” Diane asked.
“D, I went through a “lost” phase, after we’d quasi-split, and you’d left town altogether, because my mom died. And then I’d had to battle my relatives for control of my inheritance, so I have to say that I can sympathize, just a bit, with Aerin here,” Jules answered. Diane pursed her lips and decided to let Jules pursue her point.
I was still lost, though, and the confusion showed in my face.
“Aerin, I was devastated by my mom’s death, and I was reeling from losing Diane, too. For the longest time I felt guilty about feeling both – wanting Diane, wanting to be with her, but also grieving for my mom. That whole thing confused me, and my reaction was that I wanted to shut the world out, crawl into my hole, and just let everything pass,” Jules started as she drew her arm around me.
“Bette helped me break out of that,” she continued, “and then she challenged me to honor my mother’s memory by fighting for my inheritance. Now, in my case, I had a cause I could rally around, and pull myself out of my deep hole with: the battle with my relatives, that is. You don’t have something like that, in your case, that’s true, but-“

Bette and tina????
Here in spirit. But this is about a few special L words that play out in a couple’s life in another part of town. In the fringes of the world of the series I’ve been writing; but different. Hope you like it.
What a beautiful story! Your writing is such a treat to read as you evoke every emotion.
Will try this again. Left a message about 4:00 this morning and something happened, it’s not posted. My message was to thank you for posting such a beautiful love story. And that I hope this story will be continued we would like to know what happens to Aerin in the future. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing story ! So glad I stumbled upon this treasure !
Sad and sweet -but you said it complete.
Dainty, Hellbent, and new friends: thanks for the comments. Honestly: was tough to pull this together, but it was worth it. Am v glad you liked it. Ok. I hear you. It may take a while for an update on her story, but it will be coming.
Well this was a pleasant surprise. I am always seeking an episode from your creativity. So much, I had to buy a smaller electronic device so that I might read your input on the go. Now, for me buying another electronic anything is saying a lot. I am one of the “dial phone” “get up and change the channel” “do not Text me and expect an answer” old school DIE HARD. But, your writing genius persuaded me to become a mobile reader at my neighborhood “coffee house.” Please continue to write
Beautiful story. I could feel Aerin’s struggle. I would love to read about the 18 months in between their first time and Chris’ final moments. I sure it would be moving.
