The Secret of Kew Garden Hills
”Are you nervous?” Ashley asked, her eyes widening.
”Um…”
”It is ok if you are. I’m a little nervous too. I just want to talk,” Ashley said.
“You are much prettier in person.”
Rina smiled and looked down.
“I’m sorry, I speak without thinking. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable,” Ashley added.
“No, just, I don’t know. I’m a little uncomfortable. I feel like I have told you a lot, and I never met you, and don’t even know you. And I shouldn’t be here, doing this,” Rina said.
“What are we doing exactly? Drinking water and talking? That can’t be against your religion,” Ashley amusingly said. Rina didn’t laugh.
“That was a joke,” Ashley tried to make light of the situation.
“Oh, I know, I’m sorry maybe I should go….” Rina stood up to leave.
Ashley lightly grabbed her arm. “Please. Don’t. Please.”
Rina felt her touch everywhere, in places that she never knew she could feel anything. Wow, just from a touch. What did it mean? Where was this going?
Rina sat down. “I’m so sorry.”
“Please stop apologizing. We’ve been here five minutes, I’ve heard that word 10 times. Maybe we should have brought our laptops so we can email.”
Rina finally smiled. “There’s texting too.”
“Ah, a joke! Good.So tell me. Why me? Why did you choose to email me, and only me, out of all the women, on all the sites, you had to log on to mine.”
“This I know. Humphrey Bogart,” Rina said. Rina wasn’t very familiar with modern day pop culture references. When Ashley asked her on email what tv shows and movies she liked, it was hard for her to come up with anything after I Love Lucy and The Wizard of Oz. it was all Israeli political shows or Shalom Sesame in her house right now.
“Good, we have something in common,” Ashley noted. “How is your family? Two children, right?”
“Yes,” Rina responded. “Aram is 3, and Rebecca is 4.”
“Wow, busy,” Ashley marveled.
“Yes they keep us barefoot and pregnant, chained to the kitchen.”
“You are only 27? You seem older.”
“Thanks,” Rina responded.
“No, not that you look older. Just the way you speak, is eloquent, and wise.” Ashley said.
Rina looked at her watch.

Very sweet story. Now will Rina and Ashley become a couple? Or is this just a short term dallance? A married woman with two children in a religiously conservative family and community is going to be a hard environment to escape. Its a wonder she has computer access.
