The phone ringing stung the air like an angry bee and made Ashley jump half out of her skin. Grabbing it she flipped it open without checking the caller ID.
“Yeah” she said, breathless.
“Did I catch you at a bad time” Aiden asked suspiciously, lewd undertones seeping into his voice.
“No” said Ashley flatly, realizing that her hand was halfway to her waistband and he’d just missed catching her at a very bad time indeed.
“Sure” he said sarcastically. “If you’re naked with some..”
“Aiden” she interrupted pointedly, “If I were naked with someone, I wouldn’t have answered the goddamn phone.”
“Oh yeah” he said, his jock brain showing. Ashley waited for him to fill the silence that followed on the phone. When it became apparent that he wasn’t going to, she helped him out.
“Aiden” she said, sounding painfully patient. “What did you call about?”
“Oh, yeah, right. Party, my place, two Fridays from now. You in?”
“Of course!” she exclaimed, sitting up. “That’s a fair bit of notice for you. Why so much?”
“It’s gonna be large” he sounded like he was grinning on the other end of the phone. “I want to make it the sickest party of the summer.”
Summer. Starting in one week. Ashley had nearly forgotten. A whole summer with no school, Spencer, and one very neat convertible. This was looking like the best summer ever.
“You know you can count me in for a party.” She replied happily.
“Sick. I’m gonna call Spencer. Catch you.”
After he hung up, Ashley threw her phone across the bed and hugged the pillow to her again. Just the mention of Spencer’s name had made her drift back to the night before. Even now it was sending shivers through her body. She let the memories flood back again, as though the interruption had never happened.
That look in those blue, blue eyes of Spencer, widening as Ashley’s fingers slid slowly but surely inside her. The way that her pupils dilated as the pressure intensified, Ashley fully inside her now. The way her lips parted as she gasped her words, ‘oh my god’. The tingle that flew through Ashley’s body at the cry.
Ashley felt herself tighten on the inside and fought the urge to roll over and ease it. She’d slept with enough women before, but none that could conjure this kind of heat and wetness with just a memory. And it felt like an insult to the memory to use it for easy gratification now. She wanted to preserve those feelings, those sensations and those emotions as part of her and Spencer. Of course, the fact she couldn’t get it out of her head wasn’t helping.

OUCH! Bannerman, maybe we should be asking “what are you feeding them?!” Too bad you’re obviously not our favorite pet [but that might change if you post some more :( ]. It’s a good thing you’re God.

I have to feel satisfied with a job well done. Not with the story but spreading the bannerman virus. Bannerman, I know you don’t smell, it’s just that your screen name has exactly the same cadence and well… it got stuck :). At least I have people all over the world singing your name.
bannerman…bannerman…what are they feeding you? Your definitely right. I cant get that out of my head. It’s hilarious! I love the smelly cat song and goober I cant see how you hate Friends. That is an amazing show. Anyway this story rocks. I love the flashbacks. You definitely pulled it off. Post more soon as it has become a habit of mine to sit at the computer all day and wait for your next update. You keep me glued to my chair clomle.
If you must know what ‘they’ (read: I) have bee feeding me, then I will tell you – the food of my ancestors… pasta. Love it, espesh as it’s a family recipe, passed down through generations… that’s bollocks, but never mind – it was a good meal. And yes, I love making people all over the world sing my name ;-) lol. Anyways, I shall write more when my muse returns – she’s buggered off for a few days, and ironically isn’t called Ashley or Spencer… wish she was called Mandy Musgrave though! Look fwd to reading more soon Clom!

I’m trying to make a legible sentence but..*deep breath* You had me laughing so hard: ‘Polar bears, Ice cubes, wet…’ LMAO. But now I blame you for my inability to speak. I think its my turn to go buy a BUCKETT of ICE! And here my family is coming over in less than 30 minutes and I’m totally out of it now thanks to Y-O-U! ;-) Ok so my NEXT bribe involves a Pixie stick and Jell-o! Theres always room for Jell-o! :-) :-P

Best post yet. Your choice of flashbacks to denote the present was great. Ashley is in love, and you express this so wonderfully…now I feel in love, giddy, nervous, shy, and even though I have no ‘object of my affection,’I love it. :)

Ace, as usual! I like the flashback instead of blow by blow account of what happened – ’tis a good break to what is otherwise a linear narrative! bravo! I thought the idea was that Spencer was staying over, though? :-P therefore why was she not in Ashley’s bed for a repeat performance in the morning? Also, I don’t really like being associated with a song about a smelly cat; 1) because I’m not a cat, 2) because I smell lovely, and 3) cos I can feed myself with my exceptionally good cooking :-P in fact, I am the designated chef in my house – my housemates would starve without me ;-) would I be cheeky in ordering you to write more AS.SOON.AS!?

Yesss, I’m finally caught up on this story. Killer job so far. This Spencer is so different from your previous versions, just so… distant (though clearly not when it comes to the physical). I’m joyous for Ash ’cause she finally gets to experience love, but I’m also nervous for her, being in love with someone clearly experiencing issues, but who won’t open up emotionally. So yeah, again writing’s awesome, and I don’t know Andie, but I second the brownie and whatever the hell else you may need to keep the heart happy and fingers typing;>)

As always, brilliant update! Love the choice of flashbacks. I thought it was sweet that Ashley didn’t want to cheapen the memories, too. But I’m nervous for the upcoming drama…And btw, that damn smelly cat song stuck in my head all…freaking…night!

You’re a horrible person, you know that? Making me read that at work. Try as I might to avoid it, I see a post and read it without thinking or checking the damn rating. Oops. You’re like freaking Pringles. Once you pop, you can’t stop. Or maybe that’s more Ashley’s problem. And what a wonderful problem it is. :) Loved it. Loved the flashbacks and the thoughts that surrounded them. Much more sincere than just going through the action. I adore it. More than Circles, which surprises me, because I thought that was the toppest of all notches…and am I a horrible person for not knowing the smelly cat song? I HATE Friends with the heat of a thousand suns and avoid everything connected to it. Though the thought of bannerman as a smelly cat (and bannerman’s subsequent response) did make me giggle. :D
