    Ashley and Spencer catch up.

     

    After Spencer had calmed down I fixed us both some tea and we started to discuss our lives.

     

    “It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten years.” Spencer took a sip of her tea.

     

    “Yeah, I know. Now I’m a freakin music producer and you’re a…a…what do you do?”

     

    Spencer laughed, “I’m a writer actually.”

     

    “A writer?! Spencer Carlin is a writer?!” I couldn’t believe it, “Wow.”

     

    “It’s nothing big. I write children’s books.”

     

    I couldn’t stop smiling, “That’s still…wow.”

     

    There was silence between us. I was too busy staring into her ocean blues and she was staring back into my chocolate browns. Finally my conscience kicked in and told me that I needed sleep, “Um, wow. I better be going. I need to get a hotel room so that I can get some sleep. I’ve only had around three hours of it and it’s really catching up to me.”

     

    “Ash, if you don’t want to get a hotel room you do know that you can always stay here.”

     

    I contemplated, “No, I couldn’t do that. You have enough stuff to worry about let alone another house guest.”

     

    “Actually nobody’s been staying here, except me, since my dad passed away. It’d be nice to have another living being in this place.”

     

    She seemed so lonely, “Okay. It’s only for a couple of days. Where can I crash?”

     

    “Actually you can have my room. I’ve been staying in there but I don’t think I’m going to be sleeping anytime soon. And putting you in my dad’s room…”

     

    “Just doesn’t seem right.” I interrupted.

     

    She nodded, “Yeah. You still remember which room’s mine?”

     

    I wrinkled my nose and smiled, “Do you think I could possibly forget?”

     

    Spencer’s smile seemed to be brighter than when I first arrived, “Just checking.”

     

    I looked up the staircase and then made my way up. I came to Spencer’s door. It was closed. I grabbed the knob and turned. When I took a look at the room it was almost the same as I remembered it. There were still pictures sitting around. Some of them were of us and others were of her and her brothers. On her mirror there was a picture of us kissing. I remembered the night that she took it. It was our junior year and we went to prom. That night we just went back to my house and hung out. She had brought her camera and we were lying in my bed kissing when I saw a flash of light go off from behind my eyelids.
