The best year ever – (Chapter: Reasons)

    CHAPTER 7  Reasons

“So how are things with you and Jamie?”

Aiden smiled a huge grin and shrugged his shoulders.  Spencer laughed and rolled her eyes a little at his typical male humor.  ‘Some things never change,’ thought Spencer as she gave her friend a grin in return.  It was a Saturday afternoon and Aiden and Spencer were having lunch on Melrose waiting for Ashley to take care of something secretive she had to do.  Neither one of them had any clue as to what Ashley was up to but she told them to meet her at Starbucks so they obliged.  They had been sitting and catching up for about an hour now and both were starting to get a little annoyed at Ashley’s lateness.

“So she didn’t tell you what this was about?”

“Maybe its her secret plot to get us together?”

Spencer rolled her eyes and raised an eyebrow at Aiden.

“Like that would happen.  Sorry Aiden…you’re sweet…but really…you know you’re one of the girls…”

    “Well don’t you like girls?”

    “Soooo not the same thing…”

Both of them turned to see Ashley saunter in with a girl in tow.  Spencer’s eyebrows shot up at the blonde standing next to Ashley and she wondered what was up.  Aiden gave both girls a warm smile and let his eyes linger on the blonde’s curves.  She was smoking hot.  Ice blue eyes and a cute California glow about her.  ‘Typical Barbie,’ thought Spencer as she glared at her girlfriend in an inconspicuous way.  Ashley caught the glare and went over and kissed Spencer on the cheek before sitting on the arm of the chair Spencer was in.

“Guys this is Sam…she’s a manager at the House of Blues over on Sunset.   Sam this is Aiden and this is Spencer.”

    “Hey…nice to meet you…”

Sam smiled at the bunch and she could see right away what Ashley had described to her earlier.  They looked like a good bunch of kids and if she were a few years younger they would be exactly the type of people she would probably have associated with.  Spencer on the other hand gave Sam the once over trying to figure out exactly what was going on.  She heard Aiden and Sam talk excitedly about something and when she looked up Ashley was grinning from ear to ear.  Okay she definitely missed something.
